I'm wondering if my PC versions of Halo and Halo 2 will run well on a MacBook Pro through BootCamp on a 256MB NVIDIA 8600GT. Can it run on resolutions measuring exactly 1440x900, 1680x1050, and 1920x1200 (I know that Halo 1 will not run on 1920x1200)?

Slaying noobs since 2007.

Forget the 1920x1200. It does decently. Not the best experience though.

Is it compatible with 1440x900?

How so? I have a 24" monitor so I could possibly use its 1920x1200 resolution to play.

I'm not sure about that last question but it will run fine at 1440x900

Now can I ask you something?

When you get it all installed and everything can you tell me how well Halo 2 runs under bootcamp? and what is your Computers Specs?

I don't care what your monitor is capable of displaying, if the computer only supports 1440x900 then it can only max out at 1440x900.

A 8600GT can't handle games at 1900x1200 well, at all. It will have craptastic frame rates. So, no, you won't be able to "play" at 1900x1200 but you could "be" at 1900x1200.

Haven't even gotten the notebook yet... waiting until the summer. I will most likely get a maxxed out 17" MacBook Pro (primarily for music production and web design) running at 2.6ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, 7200RPM HDD, 256MB NVIDIA 8600GT, and high-resolution widescreen of 1920x1200. Cartload of cash, for sure, but it's my first new comp in a while. But I guess even if the mobile screen runs at the resolution it will play terrible, as said, with only the 8600GT to power it.

An m8600gt can display 1920x1200 just fine though. What are you getting at?

I can tell you that Halo 1 and Halo 2 run perfectly fine in Vista on my iMac 24" 2.4GHz with 2GB RAM and the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT. As for Vista, itself, well, it's a total kludge.
