Whats the point of being able to kill a prophet if he cant fight back (at least from what ive heard he cant) Is it just for good story? And dont tell me i already know they will be heavily guarded. But they shouldnt be considered a whole new class of enemy to get used to

maybe their not physically able to fight? And they dont use guns either. They must have some type of awsome power for the elites to obey them, and i doubt they're will be floating idiots who just pray to the gods or something. If you think of it, them being the top of the heirarchy has to be because of their religous role, as well as another unknown power that Bungie won't reveal till relase date? I dunno just an idea.

Or they're just damn smart :)

Why do you need to be able to fight when you can have two Brutes as bodyguards. You're supposed to be leading a war, not fighting it.

Maybe the Prophets can fight back. And even if they can't they're the leaders of the Covenant. Killing them should have some profound political effect. There could possibly (but this is just rampant speculation) be a level where you have to assassinate a high-ranking Prophet.

I read the novel HALO: First Strike and at the very end a brute named Tartarus holds up a container with shards of a crystal in it and the Prophet of Truth wills it into his hand. So im guessing their power comes from their mind.

Here's another thought. If the Prophets supplied the Elites with their technology... wouldn't it stand to reason they'd keep the most poewrful stuff for themselves?

I wouldn't be surprised if their chair has a shield generator that would make a Gold Elite cry out for envy and that's just defenses to keep him alive while the bodyguards do their work. Could you imagine what else he might have tucked into that chair?

Maybe Cortana's plasma modifications weren't all that original. Maybe the Prophets didn't tweak them on purpose because they wanted to ensure their "allies" were weaker then they were. He could have the ultra powerful, fully tweaked, plasma weapons inside his chair just waiting to surprise the Chief.

There is another thread exactly the same over yonder, take a look around before you post.

Yeah they will probably have psionic powers. As far as their relationship with the covenant, they are on equal grounds with the Elites. The Elites run and lead the military side of the covenant, the Prophets search for Forerunner tech and are the only species the ultr-intelligent engineers will communicate with, so they have clout (Spell?) over the Elites. Otherwise they pretty much hate each other

The covenant are just ( beeeeeeep ) who cares if we can kill them as long as they all die eventually. But it does sound fun to zoom around in one of those hover chairs. hehehe.

I think they use their minds. I have never seen a picture with any sort of weapon in their hands. Also, they always have brutes there with them to guard them, so I am guessing their body structure is fairly weak (I mean what person can't walk and needs a hovercraft?).

Heres my theory, the prophets do have psychic powers just like the force in star wars, kind of. its clear from first strike that they can move objects with their mind. i also can see them being very defensive with the best personal sheilds you could possibly imagine. that said i think they are weak. they are very skinny dweebs who rely on others due to their weaknesses, they are thinkers not fighters and need the other castes to do their dirty work. then again the covenant need them for political and tactical reasons not to mention their almost infinite knowledge. they can't be too tough, in the second novel 'the flood' bog standard marines captured the prophet in the truth and reconciliation. it pretty much instantly surrendered and also from what i gathered is very fluent in english to say who he was to them. anyway my point is if he surrendered and didn't give a fight to marines Master Chief should have no problem. umless its the high prophet of truth or something but he's on the homeworld......

I think they can walk, but consider themselves so important that they have chairs made for them. I think you'll probably see that theyre telekinetic in cutscenes but you dont ACTUALLY fight them. If you do, it would have to be on a rare occurance (like once in one level because killing a prophet would make the covies ballistic! Of course, it'd be cool to crash a prophet gathering religous meeting thing and massacring them! But I think they'll be in cutscenes only...)

i think they will be in the actual playable part of the game but cortanna will yell at you if you shoot them, big time. it'll make it more skillful to direct your shots at the right targets

Maybe..kind of like captain keyes lol, I like killing him before that cutscene but thats a story for another day..
Anyway, I hope they have an assasination mission so that the covenant are confused and blinded with rage. Like theres a box right near the centre where the prophet is and you have to snipe him. Checkpoint. Get the hell out of the area while fighting through hordes of vengeful covenant. That would make a good mission I think.

I believe that the prophets use mind powers. It's the only logical explanation. Maybe they can throw objects at you if you attack them?

LEGENDARY IS challenging for some ... but ... I AM NOT LEGENDARY ... I AM A MYTH!!!

Prophets wat i heard from Bungie itself, is that ther moslty interested in Forerunner's artifacts such as "Halo." i think i said this somewhere else...but anyways, does that "ring" a bell? wat i read from bungie ther's bout 28 levels, and ther IS a second "Halo" object on its way during the game!
