Here is my idea for a new feature in HALO3. I was thinking about this last night while getting my ass kicked on LIVE. The idea came to me when I actually started using the 'team viewer' that is available for the five seconds or so after you die and before you respawn. This 'Team Viewer' (or whatever it's actually called) lets you have an over-head view of any member of your team ( and some of their surroundings) while you wait to respawn. Well this can be very helpful, because it lets you know if a member of your team is in trouble, or sneaking into the enemys base, or running with the flag, or whatever. So I thought to myself "Why is this only a feature that I can use for 5 seconds after I die?".
My idea is to let you toggle this option on and off DURING the game as a 'picture in picture' feature at the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Not only would this feature help for better TEAM play (so that teammates wouldn't have to talk all the time about where they are and what they are doing) but it would also help the individual player because it would let you view YOURSELF as well. The benefits of focusing in on yourself would be numerous. Storming the base would no longer be a blind jump (check out the situation first with your P.I.P as you're about to turn the corner). And don't you hate it when people camp in a corner of a room with the sword or a shotty? You'd be able to check out the room first before you ran in. Frantic close quarter fights wouldn't just be you trying to circle the other person anD fire at their head, with the P.I.P you could actually see the whole scene.
Anyway, that's my idea. Sorry for this long post, but I thought thought it was worth it. I'm totally ready to hear negatice feedback though ( I know these forums ). So what do you guys think?
