I'm your huckleberry.

I apologize if this has been answered somewhere else, but I've been searching google and the wiki sites and still cannot find the answer. I am aware that the Seventh Column is the Bungie fan club and underground army, but what exactly does the name and logo reference? And what are the first six columns? Thanks!

It's all straight from Bungie. There is no reference, and the Seventh column crushed the other 6 underfoot.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

The first was merely a metaphorical column, as Bungie Studios was just beginning and the financial backing for an actual column was just not available.

Numbers two and three had structural integrity (not to mention hygenic) issues. The first being composed of fecal matter, and the latter of tissue brickes and snot mortar.

Four was a fluke. No one is quite sure what it was made of, bu it lasted for quite some time before the Webmaster knocked it over in an alcohol-related accident.

Five was an attempt at a recreation of its predecessor, but ultimately failed. A young and aspiring new recruit was tasked with holding up the frame as they cemented bricks around it. However, no one had told the supporter that Bungie Studios was moving to Washington. When the Studio moved, the tower remained; his skeleton is still there today, holding up rusty pieces of chicken fence and zip ties.

Six was a bit ambitious. They though that it'd be cool to dig a hole and build a column inside of it. However, after the hole was dug, the tower ended up having the same dimensions as the hole, so a circular dirt patch is all that remains of it. A likely yield of lack of foresight and/or too much ethyl.

Seven is still holding strong. It's composed of the bodies of the blacklisted members tied together by belts, shoe laces, extension cords, and any other stringy materials that happen to be available.

A 5th column is a clandestine group or faction of subversive agents who attempt to undermine a nation's solidarity by any means at their disposal.

This definition works with Bungie's "underground" attempt to influence as many people as posible until they one day rule the world. See: 7 step World Domination Plan. The "Seventh" part of the phrase stems from the alleged obsession with the number 7 Bungie has.

Silly people, there is no such thing as Columns 1 - 6. The only column to ever exist is still present with us, the 7th Column. TRU7H.
