Just because you have 50 skill in lone wolves, does not mean you will have 50 skill in team events, two seperate games with two seperate skill levels,
You might not be a good team player,
If every player on 50 skill level stopped playing, then the computer would stop processing how good they are by comparison to other players, so in theory if EVERY player stopped in 50 skill (which is never going to happen). Then you could not reach 50 skill level because there is no room for you.
Another good reason for getting rid of the 50 skill cap.

15 games straight ---> 3 ranks, at LOW (18) level in doubles not to mention a perfection without a rank up. Take into account those 15 games that we won in team doubles are more total than I have played in the rest of team doubles while still achieving the rank of 18 in less than 15 games. My teamate and me did around same (but I consistently had a much better ratio, usually only a FEW deaths per game and was usually mvp) and he advanced 23 levels...... hmmmm so he's at a 34 and I'm at a 21, that doesn't make sense at all. Another PROVEN testimonial that the ranking system IS BROKEN. I just don't know how else to convince the kids that swear by it..... but it's coming for you sooner or later, and you will curse it and realize that you were talking out of your ass, I promise you that much.

Oh My -blam!- God.

HOW MANY TIMES DOES IT NEED TO BE SAID?????

The system CAN NOT GIVE A -blam!- how you perform in the game IT ONLY CARES IF YOU WIN OR LOSE AND WHO YOU WIN OR LOSE AGAINST.

Did you -blam!- read it that time???????

And the obvious answer to this is, and you would -blam!- know it if you actually read the rest of the bloody topic instead of just making a reply without reading and crying about it, is that your friend has played LESS GAMES then you have.

the whole sigma thing is confusing it goes up when u win and down when u loose

when it is high rank up faster

when verse ppl higher then u it goes up faster?

idk im really not understanding any of this

would playing lone wolves be better because it is based on your preformance or is it still win/loss

Christ sake. I have said this already ON THE SAME PAGE!

THE RANKING SYSTEM CANNOT CARE IF YOU LEAD THE GAME IN KILLS OR HAVE A LUDACRIS AMOUNT OF DEATHS. IT ONLY CARES IF YOU WIN OR LOSE AND WHO YOU WIN OR LOSE AGAINST.

Actually, the more you play the lower your sigma goes. to increase your sigma you have to make the ranking system think you are playing either much better and winning more or have lost skill and losing more. it takes into account wins and losses from a large number of games and not just your past 5 games or what ever.
when it is high rank up faster
Not necessarily, if you dont lose and your sigma doesnt change, the conservative ranking system kicks in to prevent you from going up. I believe this is to stop people cheating the system, but I do not know for sure. Maybe El Kafungus can help more there.
when verse ppl higher then u it goes up faster?
Well, you have to win, and consistently as well. also, you got to minimise losses to lower level oppopents
would playing lone wolves be better because it is based on your preformance or is it still win/loss
Its only ever winning or losing in any ranked playlist.

You should understand why this happens and in turn that if you won aother 5 games in a row you would probably go up 2 levels.

Since you are obviously too lazy to click on that little number four just below the most recent post, I will paste the -blam!- quote.

Posted by: Achronos
Look, this is getting silly. Things are working correctly, they just don't work like they did in Halo 2. Here's a few things to remember.

1. Your individual performance during a team game doesn't matter - if you lost, you lost, it doesn't matter how well you did personally.
2. Rank progression is NOT linear.
3. Rank progression is based on consistency and the rank of your opponents. That is, if you always lose to higher level opponents, and win most but still lose some to equal level opponents, you won't go up that match.
4. If you lose to someone lower level than you, your rank is going to suffer more. Winning against lower level players is expected, and will not assist you in going up.
5. I cannot say this enough - just winning more than you lose isn't going to get you rank. It is but one requirement. As I said, if you're not beating higher leveled players consistently, you don't go up a level because you haven't earned it.
6. Rank will initially change often, but once you get to a certain point, the system becomes statistically certain about your level in a playlist, and just playing games and winning is no longer enough to go up - you have to consistently win against higher leveled players and not lose to lower level players.
7. Please, PLEASE stop assuming things aren't working because it doesn't work how it did in Halo 2. Playing and winning only guarentees your EXP goes up, it doesn't guarentee your skill level goes up. That depends on who you are playing.

Did you read it that time? or do I need to post it another 500 -blam!- times?

He is a Bungie employee, one of the webmasters of this site and often times a go-between between the forums and the actual Bungie employees who designed the game.

If you suddenly developed a whole new level of headshot ability, for example you’d find that your skill level would rise commensurately.

You put a link to this info in this thread a couple times. I am guessing you are taking this line and deducing it means the system is looking for headshots and giving you credit based on them. It's been stated that Frankie was referring to a general increase in your skill resulting in more WINS. Not that the system is judging you stats like headshots, K/D ratio or even needler kills.

If you cannot be convinced - fine. Just don't try to confuse other people reading this thread by stating otherwise. Winning against higher skilled people consistently is what the system uses to rank you up.

Also, your theories and reasons about raising the cap above 50 are bunk. I am not going to quote and reply to each one cause this thread is not about that. It's about explaining how the system currently works. I would suggest you make another thread about raising the cap above 50. You and others can then discuss that without cluttering up this thread.

I guess it also doesn't take into account that before the 15 winning streak that I played less than 15 team doubles games and acquired a level 18.....mmmm broken
BUT I ALREADY SAID THAT and it completely conflicts with the system that you claim to
soooo maybe it is YOU that needs to reread?
I'm not saying that one system works that anyone claims because I think they're all (in theory because I've never seen a single claim of the ranking system hold true.... and I play ALOT of TS) malfunctioning in some way
so before having a selectively filtered agression towards certain keywords in a post you might want to look at the fact that I disproved TWO ranking systems in a single post and did read over that whole sigma and w/l is the only variable in rank.... I also put into account that k/d and w/l both matter, which doesn't hold true with MY equation and still in yet another possibility that k/d is the only thing that matters which still doesn't hold true to me either...
Now if you're really that above the curve than I please explain further because obviously I'm missing something.

although the post explains the system very nicely i am confused to the fact that me and a partner played a fair few games of doubles together, i was a 30 and he was a 29... and several wins and losses later he is a L40 and i am a L31... considering that we were both loosing and winning the same games i think its slightly unbalanced that he receives so many more skill points.

A flaw in the plan?

After winning 22 slayer games in a row i no longer quetions why I dont have that 48. THX guys

True, but i was a lvl 37, i played with 36 and lower, and i leveled up to 38, so you dont need someone higher to level up...

Again, K/D means absolutely nothing, so stop trying to say it does mean something.

Other then your friend playing less games then you, the Conservative ranking system might have kicked in (I think it is to prevent cheaters) however I dont know the inner workings of it, you have to ask El Kafungus.

p.s Sorry about the tone in the first post, I was having a bad day with cheaters and bugs in Halo 3 and you have my Apologies.

I checked the gamertag linked to your account...Is that the correct one? Also your friend is Ix Rumz xI?Seems to me like you are a little mixed up with how many games you played. I looked through all 75 pages of games you have listed (that was pretty boring by the way, but I do what I can to get at the truth) and before the streak you had played 69 games. I'll say that again...You played 69 games of Double Team BEFORE the win streak. Your friend had played 6 games before the win streak...Once again...Your friend played only 6 games BEFORE the win streak!

Seems to me this fits right into the system as we currently understand it. Your friend moved much faster because the system was far less certain of his skill level. He had also played far fewer games then you which would mean he is going to move faster then you.

Correct me if any of my facts are wrong, but please look back at your games before you try to tell me otherwise. Most of the Team Doubles games you played occured on page 40 and back. That should help you speed up the search a little.
