i really dont think that winning 37 in a row without loosing means that my high skill should only be at 10!!!! does this mean my sigma lvl is so low that i cant get high skill no more i have been on high skill 10 forr about 15 wins !!

Its mentioned countless times in this thread that the following cause ranking problems:
1) Playing with only the same people
2) Never losing

1) is more damaging than 2). I suggest you split up with your bids for a few gamaes at the lower ranks, then join back up later.

Well, I suggest playing with others well before ever losing on purpose. The system cannot differentiate which of you is causing the winning...so it needs to test you against other people without them. The more test subjects, the quicker it will gain confidence in your rank.

Quite simply, even if you rejoin with them later, you will rank slower when playing as a group.

The next person to assume I am talking about ranked, do us all a favor and look at what I play!

Trueskill is truefail.

One shot, Overkill

I saw someone with 22 ranked games played and highest skill 50 and he's party member was 31 ranked games played and highest skill 50... How is this possible

I once got put against a clan of level 20's who had something like 460 exp from 460 games. Basically they had won every game they'd played but were still only level 20. Thanks to whoever said about playing together stops the team ranking up - I had been wondering why that team weren't at level 50 and now I know why :)

negative exp boosting.

It is possible to get a 50 in doubles in under 45 games legit though.

It only depends on how good you are when you're not boosting. So if you'd just started a new account, if you have another high level account you are almost certain to rank up a lot quicker as well.

The system is extremely confident you are a 34, so you will have to win A LOT to convince it otherwise.

This usually happens when you have a DNF or lag out of the previous game in which your team went on to win. It is possible to start another game before the DNF game actually finishes. So the system hasn't awarded you credit for the win by the time you start another game. You then lose your next game, go up and wonder WTF.

At this point I'm so fed up with this -blam!- True Skill system that I'm, after being loyal to Bungie since Halo CE, prepeared to give them the finger and never buy their products again.

I do not see why playing in a party with friends should slow down the speed of leveling up to the point that you more or less have to win 20 straight games just to go from lvl 12 to lvl 13, and this is in a non-mixed party with players that have the exact same amoutn of games played as yourself.
This is however not the worst part about the system. The worst part is by far that Bungie hasnt said a word about it despite that there are several complaints in the forum on a daily basis.

"Play with random people then". Yeah that works but why should I have to when the party system is there to match parties against eachother? Nor do I want to play with random people. Speaking of which they should add an IQ test to the game, get a score below 100 and you're blocked from ranked. This would reduce the population to about 2 % of what it currently is. If this ever becomes a reality I might consider going in to a playlist alone.

Some might think that it's i fun to play and "own some newbs" at a ridicalously low level but to me and my friends it's just frustrating as hell.

I am not saying it doesn't suck, because it really does but you do understand that players on fresh accounts and only playing with each other is a very small percentage of the population right? This scenario was obviously deemed not significant enough to be corrected. I have a feeling it could not be corrected without some major issues or a complete redesign but we really have no idea.

The simple truth is you can either play some games with your friends on their original accounts, play some games with randoms or be stuck at a very low level FOREVER and continue to be frustrated. At least the issue has been identified and you KNOW WHY you are not going up in skill level. If you really are ready to give up Halo because you and your friends new accounts can't level unless you play some games with other people then so be it but it really seems a little temper-tantrum to me.

I am not being condescending but what is the big deal about playing with randoms or other friends for a day or so?

  • 02.19.2009 1:09 PM PDT

I don't know if this has been answered in the past 81 pages, but there's 81 pages, so forgive me, but I didn't read them all.

What constitutes a win in Lone Wolves? Is it when you get XP? Does it count as you beating everyone below you and losing to everyone above you?

I'm trying to get to 40 in LW right now, so I'm wondering. It won't affect anything, but it'll still be good to know.

If you're going to not buy their games based on online leaderboards that don't give anything but bragging rights, good riddance.

This may be the wrong thread for it, but skill doesn't matter that much. Certainly not enough to forego playing Halo or any Bungie game ever again.

Complaints? On my INTERNET? This is completely unheard of! No matter what system Bungie implements, regardless of how flawless it is, there will ALWAYS be someone finding something wrong with it. It's just how the world works.

"Play with random people then". Yeah that works but why should I have to when the party system is there to match parties against eachother? Nor do I want to play with random people. If that ever became a reality, it's likely you wouldn't have the option.

wat. I fail to see how this is connected to the rest of your post at all.

Walk in2 the Darkn3ss

Hey, I'm new to this forum and I tried to read this whole thread but I only made it to page 37 of 81 before my eyes started hurting so I decided to post. If this is a repeated question, let me apologize ahead of time.

I was just wondering if the more experience you have, the longer it takes to gain levels. For example, right now I'm a 31 with 454 EXP and 619 games played. I have to win about 3 out of 4 games to level up, which really isn't that much, so I don't mind. Now, If I had only 300 EXP and 450 games played, would I level up faster? Maybe only needing to win 2 out of 3 games? If it matters, I have only played Team Slayer with the exception of maybe a Team Objective game here and there. The majority of my EXP is from Social Slayer and Double EXP weekends.I've also won about 60% of my TS games, which according to the original post, is right around the magic number of 65%.

Any help would be appreciated. If you need more information, please let me know.
