I AM A PROUD CHRISTIAN. HALO IS AWESOME BUT GOD IS MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!
Did you knew that JESUSdied for you?

I was thinking the other day Now that we have moderators that were special members, that were rewarded with that ranking .But now because We cant make evry good meber a mod why not create a special kind of rank called special member for special counity members this would be something lke this

How to be one requisits:
- being active
2.-Being considered anesample of a good meber
3.-being choosen by a moderator
4.- good grammar
5. obeying the rules
6.- never flaming

Benefits
new pictures for profile
Custom avatar( of course choosen acording to the rules)
special color to text
ABLE TO UPLOAD PICTURES APROVED by MODS

( THEY WOULD NOT BEING ABLE TO EDIT OT BLACKLIST SOMEONE)

WELL THIS IS HUST AN IDEA SUBJJECT TO CHANGE and a way to rewr good members

No. It would just promote elitism.

Good try though. Maybe something a little less visible, but custom avatars would just be another way for people to say "look, I am better than you."

Yeah. I would love for it to implemented, but that is a problem, but there is something else that I fear. People being good just to get the custom avatars, then all of a sudden being complete jack-asses.

Yea, exactly. If anything should be rewarded it should be a gold star sticker. =D

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

I've suggested something like this previously, but I would merely give them the ability to flag/report bad posts. They don't need those other trappings. I don't like the idea of giving them all kinds of special crap, as that WOULD promote arrogance.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

I say no. Good members don't need perks, as far as I am concerned, a persons thanks is enough. There is no need to shower them with gifts and other stuff, they can be a good member if they so choose. And if they do choose to be so, then a persons thanks will be enough. That's my philosophy about this situation, and always will be.

Yes, but people can already do that. They just need to message a mod.

But, on the other hand people rarely do, and I'm sure it's hard for a mod to answer every single request. Actually, now that I think about it, it seems pretty sound. There should somehow be a list for mods to see if there are threads that need hammering, when a "good semeratin"(surely spelled wrong) flags a thread (or post) a link would be posted on this list.

I'm almost tempted to say I'm all for it, based on the strange fact that he chose to list as one of the requirements that a "Special Member" should have good grammar and (I would assume) spelling, then followed it up by spelling much of his post incorrectly, therefore signifying that he himself doesnt feel worthy of the designation. Then I realize it could lead to problems and people trying a bit TOO hard to spell correctly and use proper grammar. My vote is for no.

Umm.. maybe because nobody said it yet? Or maybe because it's true? Or how about because it happens all the time in other forums that use titles? Just a guess.

Thats what I think when I hear 'special' members mentioned. In that mindset, the special members here make it painfully obvious just how special they truly are.

Anytime anyone comes up with an idea, someone always says it will promote elitism. It's getting really old gus.
Who's Gus?

And yes, it is. It's a conversation-stifler. It's a word people regurgitate because they feel the need to 'add' to a topic, when in actuality, it doesn't help at all. It's also, in case you couldn't already tell, one of my pet peeves. >.<

A rank between members/mods would be beneficial. Like it or not, older members tend to be more knowledgeable than newer ones - a "Senior Member" role that is allowed to flag topics (mods would see a number next to topics showing the number of flags) and has that title would be beneficial to the forum, in my mind. If it wasn't working too well, mods could just ignore the flags and it'd be as if nothing changed. The role could be dished out to everyone with an account older than a couple of years, then removed as needed - as accounts from then on mature up past two years old (or whatever) they'd go up for review and a mod would check posts and so on to decide if that member needs that role or not.

A basic system, but one with few drawbacks.

I betcha there's not one mod who would want the added responsibility of checking people's profiles to see if they're "special member" worthy, or if the "senior members" are following the new flagging rules.

Secondly, there's a reason people always throw out the elitism argument when these sorts of ideas are proposed........because it's true. Someone's join date has very little relevance to whethere they're knowledgeable or not. People who post once a month for two years has less knowledge than a person who's only been here six months but posts daily.

Besides, what benefit to the community does having the ability to flag posts or designate a special role provide? Other than getting caught up in a forum cop debate or "My opinion counts more, don't you see my designation!".

You could just as easily PM a mod to alert them as you could flagging a thread.

You're suggesting that everyone who would be considered for an elitistic position would flaunt it? Or that their arrogance wouldn't have unforseen consequences on their behalf?

I have to disagree.

I agree entirely with what you said. A rank between member/mod would be beneficial, but then again, someone is going to say that if those members are in-between, why not just make them a full mod with all the privileges? Then I would say to read what Saint said about how it could easily be taken away.

I have to disagree.
No, I just said that it would promote arrogance. Clearly, there are many members here who would not flaunt any extra rewards given to them. But some would. And as much as we can say that it would be punished, our moderators have enough on their hands keeping up with the truly bad behavior. Anything that can be done to minimize even the potential for this behavior should be.

At any rate, it's not the arrogance that I'm worried about so much as the necessity fact that this idea is a reward for following the rules. I mean, just for being a good member, which is what we're supposed to be doing anyway, I don't think that people deserve extra rewards, even though they might show that they deserve extra responsibility. Rewards should come for people who have loyally served the community, like the BNet mods or the guys who run the big fan sites. If all you do is post politely and follow the rules, then you might be a good candidate for a title like "Senior Member" or whatever, with perhaps the extra responsibility of flagging bad threads or helping new members, but I don't think that you should be rewarded with extra crap for your profile just to show that you haven't been trolling.

The bottom line is if Achronos doesn't want to appoint new mods because he says it's hard to trust people, then he's sure not going to give a large percentage of the B.net population access to special priviledges or roles.

Halo3Planet, the place for all things Halo 3..

Need help finding skulls, make sure to go here.

I would prefer for certain members to have the ability to flag threads a lot easier, like a button, for instance. But, there is no way I would agree with this if the members were given a special title, or in any other way made obvious they have a power like that. Also, if they are caught telling others they have the ability to flag threads, they should be banned, for however long is deemed necessary. Besides, the people who I would think would get this ability wouldn't flaunt it even if they had special avatars or something.

Heh. For all we know, people already have this ability.... *shifty eyes*
