Typically, I avidly stand by everything Bungie does. I think that they're the gods of gaming. But here, I'm upset. And I'm going to voice my opinion. Taking out social doubles wasn't a good thing. I mean, I have a designated double-team partner. When we were getting our faces kicked in ranked doubles, we'd play some social. It was awesome to win, it was good to fight, and heck, we'd just goof around sometimes with the other team. I only needed one buddy to have a great time. Don't get me wrong, Rocket race is good and all (although my non-VIP team mate frequently deems it a good idea to just rocket the other people instead of drive), but I simply don't see why you should have taken away doubles. I mean, Luke was always saying, it just dilutes the meaning of exp. He said just concern yourself with the level that they are, and you'll be fine. He told me not to worry, and I listened. Honestly?
I'd rather have boosting than no social doubles. To be perfectly honest, I'd rather have social doubles than team tactical, or lone wolves. Who, that has played social doubles more than 5 times, can say that they haven't had a great time playing? It is (or was) the easiest way to make friends. Personally, I would give advice on the other team's teamwork, tell them tips and strategies, and let them know what they were doing wrong when we won (when we lost, it was "Good Game." Maybe even "Shenanagins"). It's a real, friendship building experience. Some of my best Live friends I met in social doubles. The people I typically play gametypes like "Zombies" and "Shark"? Met 'em in doubles. My Team Objective buddies? Met 'em in doubles. It's a great aspect to the online experience.
When I found out that they didn't exist anymore, I didn't say things like "I'm done with Halo" or "Bungie sucks", because I realize your job is difficult. I realize what it's like to see a problem and need a fix, and how a good answer today is better than a perfect on tomorrow. But honestly? What's the rush? I mean, boosting wasn't really hurting anyone, and yeah, people complained. They complain about everything though, you've seen more than enough to know that. It wasn't a huge issue, but not having social doubles is. I need that experience. I need those great times. So please Bungie, at least consider a little longer bringing back social doubles. Maybe with a few minor tweaks, like max party size two, or even better, make it so social doubles gives no exp for a win. I'd rather just have the good times, personally. If it meant that I wouldn't get exp for it, then that's fine.
Other than the social doubles, keep up the good work. You've created the most popular gaming experience in the world, and so far I have yet to be modded.
Thanks for listening,
Angel.
