I'm siding with Foman on this one.

I respectfully disagree with your post (and most of your suggestions) in its entirety.

I have described in detail some of the features I like better about Delphi, but to get a feel for what I'm talking about you really have to go and play with the features, I can't describe them in detail that would equal first hand experience. I doubt that anyone who's replied has spent five minutes actually useing Delphi. A couple of people said the colors turned them off on the first page, the colors can be changed, and vary wildly, I've been to forums I couldn't read because they hurt my eyes, and forums just as easy on the eyes as this one, that's a bogus excuse because they're afraid to try it and find out that I'm right. Undoubtably there're things there that wouldn't work here, HTML and sigs could be a nightmare here, but there are also features that would work quite well.

Anything worth replying to is worth the little bit of your memory that it takes up.

I also agree with Fomans original statement.

Bull-blam!- buddy. Did you read that post? I've been there. This place is way better. Quit trying to pass off your ridiculously biased opinion as a fact. Maybe if you learned to appreciate simplicity for the sake for functionality you would understand why Delphi's extra features won't work here.
Learn how coding works, see how it would actually effect this place, then make a thread about it.

Children, you're arguing over something you can't control. The forums are the will of the Overlord and Webmaster. I don't see Bungie all of suddenly changing their forums because people have different functionality tastes.

Posted by: Mopar67
I haven't answered that question because it doesn't make any sense, how would incorporating a few features change the capacity of Bungie?

A few features can be a long list to order. I don't know if you have any experience in coding or the such, but, you can't just go in and change things you don't like. The more you change, the more you're likely to mess up. The web team is extremely good at what they do, but, changes take time. They take time because you have to plan everything out, put it into action, test it, debug it, and release it. On top of all of that you hope that you don't make a mistake because you will end up paying for it.

Engineering 101: Make it easy.

All very true.

First rule of web design: A user will spend 8 seconds on your web site before they decide whether they want to stay or leave. You have 8 seconds to entertain a user and keep them attracted to your site. I don't even bother reading websites with bright colors or plain horrible design. Web sites are for information, not whoring yourself out to advertisements and useless crap.

For 8 seconds, I wouldn't want to rely on crappy colors to keep them attracted.

You mean you assume that he is a fifteen year old, seeing as that we really can't tell from anything but assumptions people make.

You ask for improvements from the community but shun them out?

You are right that you have an opinion on what you think the community is, but pressing just your views of it isn't very productive to fixing the problem.

I made more than one post, dumbass. Look, I've been here almost two years and you just signed up last month. After my fellow members repeatedly try to explain to you why new features aren't going to do well here, you still insist on putting features on this site that aren't very compatible with our current system.
While you call me immature, I'm just trying to help you get at least a few facts though your thick Delphi head!

I was kinda angry at what you've said. You also insulted my girlfriend, which means I'd really like to kick your friggin' ass right about now, but you see, we is over the interwebs, so I kinda can't do that. How dare you come into this forum and say it sucks. Go post it on www.halo2sucks.com or www.halo3sucks.com, either one, because you obviously don't belong here.

I think you will be waiting some time then. I honestly don't see the point of using a web site that has poor design. Web sites are for information and a moderate volume of entertainment, which is just information. If a site has a serious point to make it should consider good design. I will be absolutely stubborn in my choice not to use a web site that implements crappy colors, because it gives insight into their entire site. If a site has a good purpose they should take a considerable amount of effort in representing that purpose properly. If the first thing I see is painful mixtures of colors, randomly huge or skewed fonts, etc, I will not entertain that site for very long. The visuals of a site will be important, because it dictates the motive of the site.

It doesn't make sense for a site to throw together some crappy design and then have really good information? If the information is important the design should show that.

Personally, I find the Bungie.net forums like no others. I can't stand any other forums, it just bugs me! I have no clue if this is because I been on bungie for a while or what. But honestly, the forums are perfect to me.

It is different to you but how can Bungie make it best for everyone?

And I did go to that website (Dephli?) and it was bright and annoying looking.

This may get me permanantly banned from getting the recon armor, like I care, but Bungie, your forum sucks. I don't even know where to begin, how about the fact that when you post a reply it takes you to the end of the thread where you posted? I don't want to read my post, I just wrote it, I know what it says, I want to continue reading where I left off, I post, then I have to go back and find where I left off. How about message notification? How about a link in the reply that takes you back to the last message in case you need to review what was said? Seriously man, go here and get some pointers, I could go on and on. How is it that you can make such a fantastic series of games, but can't make a decent forum?

Edit: So far I've gotten a bunch of responses from people proclaiming the superiority of B-net, but not one who's actually spent time posting on Delphi to have a frame of reference. They aren't even willing to check it out, complaining about the colors and advertisments on the home page instead, come on people, I'm not talking about moving this site over there, I'm talking about improving this site, it's not perfect, no site is, at least consider the posibility that it wasn't created by God.

If you haven't spent time on Delphi, or don't have any suggestions for improvements, please don't talk to me, you can't have a reasonable discussion if you haven't even seen the subject.

Where are you to talk? I've been on Delphi for a while, and I can clearly see that this website is far more superior. What has Delphi done? Nothing. What has Bungie done? Created a new game that has spread throughout the world. And now you sit here and criticize their site? You have absolutely no room to talk. Delphi looks like it should be on the bottom of the list.

Delphi isn't even really video game related. It's just misc. and it's unattractive. Delphi is an attempt at success, B.net was a success to begin with.

Also, I'm atheist, so I don't believe in God. Happy? Go cry in a friggin' corner. It's like trying to convert everyone to scientology. It's never going to work.

I never was very diplomatic, and I don't like the site, I do like the content, and there's no place else to get it, so I'm stuck with it aren't I? While I may have all the subtlety of a sledge hammer, asking for features that would mke this site more user friendly is constructive, and unless I missed something, YOU are a member here just like I am, you talk like you own the place.
Yes you are stuck with what Bungie.net has to offer at this time. Suggesting what could be improved on Bungie.net is one thing, rather than complaining about how the forum sucks and stating that they should take tips from another forum website. Do not misinterpret what I say, for my intention is to help others and in this case tell you that there is a different way to approach the situation. Using this constructive perspective on how to improve the site is a lot better and can improve your chances on getting more advanced features for the forum in the future.

Starting a topic in a negative aspect, thus concluded from your title will never get you far on this website. I have never claimed to be anything more or less than a Bungie.net member, but people think of me as that way for various reasons. You should not judge one who does not judge you. I am here for you and for anyone else; recalling my first sentence... if you do not like the forum that's fine. I respect your opinion.

Several people already have claimed to have used Delphi (the second I know in person). So we do have experience with the site. But you keep insisting that we don't know what we're saying. Well, how about this? You don't know what you're saying. I doubt you've taken the time to look at all of the aspects of this site!
Not only that, you provided links to Delphi for other members to see. I'm not saying that anyone signed up, and I'm not saying that anyone didn't. But with Zee Jolly Roger's answer, it seems that he does understand this stuff more than you, Mopar. And I strongly agree with Zee on why it wouldn't be good for this site's system. Sorry, but from my experience, Delphi still looks like an tacky site since when I had a membership there 2 months ago.

EDIT: Okay, yah. It went a little too far.
