Yes. (It counters the lazy ppl who don't comment.):  78%

No. (Only comments decide whether thread is bumped:  22%

I made an awesome map that received 230+ downloads in little less than a day. However, my thread has been buried because downloaders refuse to comment and leave feedback. I believe it is an unwritten rule to comment after downloading someone's creation. If downloads bumped threads, then the best maps would appear towards the front so others do not miss the most downloaded maps. I think its ridiculous when a map has 500 downloads and only a few comments and is pushed back to the 15 page.

What do you think?

Maybe it's worth the download but not worth posting in.

And no it shouldn't be bumped because then all the new and upcoming maps wouldn't get a chance.

if a map is upcoming, then every download it gets it moves back up to the front and dont forget when its first created its at the front. I say if a map cant even get a download, let alone a comment, then it shouldn't be in the front. Actually it will be easier for new maps because a simple download will move it back.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

What would you think about, instead, having a top-20-most-downloaded list for each map (example: top-20 most downloaded Sandtrap variants) separate from the forum? The forum is based on new posts only, with no other factors thrown in except for stickied threads. A separate top-20 list could be placed on the Community files homepage or the Bungie Favorites page and avoid a lot of the problems associated with automatic bumps in the forums.

yes. that is a solid solution. or maybe even have something as simple as having a drop-down filter for searching for a certain map.

Oh goodness no. There will be too many old threads in the forum without letting other's files get some shine in the light.

how about categorizing the maps into different groups based on the number of downloads? For example, one group could only have maps that have 700-1000 downloads. Once a map received more than 1000, it would move into the next group. I actually think that would be really effective.

Actually it would be kind of useless. If the gametype is popular people will post in the thread. Achronos doesn't like useless features.

No. Thats the last thing we need in the comunity files threads, more bumping. >_>. The thing I've notice with files that have the many downloads are the ones with many posts to it. And the reason they get more posts, is from bumps from the topic creater.

so are you saying that downloads and comments are positively correlated? And if most of the comments come from the OP, then that means the only way to get downloads is to subtlety bump your own thread by posting irrelevant things and unnecessarily replying to a downloader's feedback. Am I right so far?

I say, which (probably) would only be an if statement and an sql query away, have an option in those forums to sort file threads by:
-Newest (the default setting)
-Most Downloads
-Most Recent Downloads

Eh more, bumps, and downloads are positively correlated. And yes you are right.

yes. this is the least that i would want. Just a simple filter feature. Newest, Most, Recent. Simple and effective.
