As Bungie probably knows better than most players, Halo 1 had many, many problems when It comes to the European PAL version. The use of frame-dependant animations made everything slower when using 25FPS instead of 30FPS (29.97), which Bungie tried to adjust for at the very end of production, so that they didn't have to force PAL players to use 60hz. The result is that the game is different and slower than the US version + it is not playable in PAL60-mode (60hz/30FPS). The last 5 frames are just the 25th frame frozen if it is run in 60hz.
With the re-release of Halo 1 on XBLA, I hope this has been corrected, and that we are now getting the 60hz-only NTSC version (30FPS). This will also solve the problem that 360 owners in the PAL regions have today: Halo 1 PAL won't work with HD, since it can't support 60hz.
Also, I really hope that the back-compat issues with Halo 1 desyncing on LAN will be fixed. The game and the platform it originally was released for is getting old, and seeing Halo 1 die just because we lack the gamepads and Xboxes would be a severe loss. I really hope the back-compat will be brought up to an acceptable standard.
