Subject: Bungie do you realize the high demand for HCE for Live

Posted by: Lurker_77
From various polls this week I have noticed the super high demand for HCE to be on Xbox Live. I know HCE will be downloaded on Xbox Live Arcade, but it won't be Live enabled. I guarantee if you SOMEHOW made HCE on XBL it would be more popular than H3 because it is a better game!

1. Even if CE came to Xbox live, it wouldn't be multiplayer enabled. Recon discussed at length the difficulty of making CE multiplayer enabled, it just wouldn't work without recoding the entire game (which won't happen). Laggy Xbox Connect matches FTL?

2. There's no way that it would be more popular than H3. People would buy it, take a nice stroll down memory lane, and then go back to H3.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a great idea to put it out there as an Xbox live downloadable game. I'm sure there's a ton of Halo fans that started playing H2 or H3 that never got to experience one of the best campaigns ever.

So now I'm a beta tester. Let's see where this goes.

Plus I don't get why people keep asking Bungie make it XBL enabled? Yes, Bungie did make it but the IP is owned by Microsoft. What ever changes, if any, that are going to be made for the game will be decided by MS.

P.S. If that came off as flaming it wasn't my intent.

If it came with Xbox Live enabled I would play it over Halo 3 any day.

I guarantee if you SOMEHOW made HCE on XBL it would be more popular than H3 because it is a better game. I would gladly shell out $60 for a new HCE with live enabled. No increase in graphics, or maps, or gameplay, just SOMEHOW fix the old code so that it would be compatibly for Live. Hell, I would pay $100 for it! Seriously that's all I want!

I'm with you dude. Nothing beats original Halo. It was sooo much more fun. I have it for PC and the online play is awesome. I find myself playing Halo 3 more though because there are more people on.

There is NOT high demand for it. Your sample demographic, while not only tiny, is the very definition of biased.

the only reason people played halo 2 over halo 1 was because they assume that it is better because it has a number next to the name same with halo 3

I compleetly agree. But bungie should work on it in their spare time or hire extra people to do it. And they shouldn't make it a part of or update to the halo ce game that's going to come out on xbl now. It should be an mp only version of halo that can be downloaded seperatly, that way it's not so big, less expensive, and wouldn't be a waist for those that already have halo ce.

Halo PC isn't Halo with an Xbox Live-enabled experience, mind you.

Having it on Live would be cool. There's plenty of demand now that Halo 3 is done.

"Done"? Bungie finished working on Halo 3, but the game has barely been out for several months.

5 years and counting on Bungie. I feel old and worthless.

Well, Xbox Live would be great with all the features but I love Halo PC and more importantly, Custom Edition which gives many many more hours.

Rhudebaker is kind of right. Everyone finished the campaign and stuff but nobody's even done with Live features of Halo 3 because new maps are coming out and everyone logs in each day and many things happen.

They wouldn't have to recode the entire game, just the MP.

Yeah, and the same goes for the first Halo game as well.

Oh, so 90% of the people in a tiny and completely biased sample of the xbox population apparently made a non-verifiable commitment to play this game in an unreliable forum poll?!

Come on, that means nothing! All you've done is show that hardcore halo fans like halo, which we didn't need a poll for. The halo 3 population is a fraction of the entire population of xbox live, and the forum posters at bungie.net represent yet again a tiny fraction of that.

Exactly how can you say that it would make good business sense when all you have is an untrustworthy forum poll which states that YES, almost all of the hardcore fans of the game will like it?

There's no evidence that says that more than a few people (all of which are here on these forum anyway) will pay for this.

Yea they should just make the multiplayer available online so that it's not quite as big of a project. I realize it will be demanding but I would certaintly pay money for it (up to like $100)

I'm not sure about the cost of production, but only a programming team would be needed. Everything else is done. If they have access to the Halo PC code, much of the programming work is already done. Also, the hardcore fan base could be exploited for large amounts of money, or if they'd rather charge a reasonable price for it, it would be more accessible to the non-hardcore fans. It could likely ride on the Halo 3 hype if they wanted it to.

That is incorrect. None of the people I personally know who still play, are in this forum. None. Some people just play the game, rather than talking about it. Plus, this forum isn't exactly conspicuous.

And we Aren't Asking for Gold or Diamonds here, We're simply asking for a copy and paste, and for what? the chance to play one of our ALL TIME FAVORITE games On XBL, with a centralized location for us, "the consumers" to find one another. Its unfair In my eyes that Everyone playing Halo 2 can still go on with there lives pretending that Halo 3 never even came out. But for me, a Halo:CE Junky; My Halo:CE Days Died Nov. 9 2004, when everyone left XBC to play on XBL and Who's to blame them. All we are asking for is the chance to have a community once again for us Die hard Halo:CE fans. I think they did it right the first time and Raped the game since then. and wish that I had a place to go to see all of my halo 1 friends and play together without using a tunnel program that isn't widely known or used.
(yes its known about here on these forums but Out in the world I doubt the average Halo fan even knows what a tunnel program is.
"Oh tunnel program? You mean XBL right?".....-no.)

And Like I've said in past threads and posts as has SentientGiraffe, for just the chance to have that Community back weather small or Large, significant or not. I would Pay out the ass. if they had an asking price of 500$ for Halo:CE on XBL I prolly wouldn't have it on the release date. but I guarantee that it would be in my hands by the end of the month.

Easier said than done. As if it were so easy Frank O' Connor can snap his fingers and have such a project done like that!
