Guys (and maybe a few gals), lay off the "Congratulations, you beat guests/randoms/n00bs" comments. They didn't go on to boost their egos, they went on to play with the community. So what if they won all of their games? Good for them :)

Just be happy they came on to play Halo with us. If I wasn't in class, I would have been on trying to play at that time too.

They didn't win all their games - they lost the fourth one. See my above post. The issue is that they beat up on guest accounts (people's little brothers and sisters most likely) then posted about it on the front page - with links to people's gamer tags. Public humiliation on the front page of a site with millions of users doesn't promote good sportsmanship and improve the community - it's just not cool.

But yes, I do appreciate the fact that they played the community. I appreciate that they took the time out of their day to come out and jump into the playlists - that was definitely a cool thing to do.

Are you actually serious?! You make way too much out of this game if you think having a match score posted online can be considered "public humiliation."

The top link on the front page of Bungie's site links to 3 cherry picked games that describe, in depth, how Bungie beat up on ad-hoc teams with guest accounts. Furthermore, the people that were in those games didn't even choose to play Bungie staffers (or even know who they were) - let alone have their defeat blogged about. Then when they have the opportunity to write about a good team that played together and soundly beat the Bungie staff, they left that one out.

You're probably correct that it isn't nearly as bad as I'm making it out to be. However if there is such as thing as bad sportsmanship, then this is it.

I'm your huckleberry.

Unlike the usual Humpday summaries, I sensed absolutely zero taunting or lack of sportsmanship in any of the 3 game writeups. I could be dense, though. :^) Plus, I would be totally surprised if everyone they played was not incredibly excited to be playing against the flaming helmets. shrug

I'd love to randomly run into these guys, get crushed, and then get a good taunting in a weekly update. :^D

You're probably right. It's just that I wouldn't have gotten crushed :)

Yea I do have to agree Bungie guys your going to post this to favorites and you played noobs? Why didn't you guys play against brigadiers and generals these people are after all the ones who support your game the most? If you are incapable of playing the game at a high level do you even have any business designing / being involved in the game? Love the game love you guys but thats just my 2 cents I'm not going to bullshi.

  • 11.16.2007 10:09 AM PDT

They played Social games?

Meaning they played games where theres a good chance there will be guests that will usually have no idea to play the game? I was expecting them to jump in level 30-40 ranked matches.

Congratulations, you beat guests and randoms. The sponsors will be arriving any moment now.

Not to mention that they only won the shotty-snipes game by using almost nothing but shotties. (One guy had half his kills with snipe, almost all the rest were shotty). Explains a lot about why matchmaking sucks so horribly. So do these guys.

You should have booted 1 guy and played team slayer or skirmish. You should have played good people who came in as a team like you. But you didn't, you pwned some newbs who probably don't even visit Bungie.net.

If your going to play "the fans" then play the ones who know how to get kills. Trust me, you wouldn't think its so easy to kill a mauler guy if you played good people who don't run at you from a mile away. You should experience the horror of the mauler on Guardian...THE HORROR!!!

Funny that they didn't include This Game in their writeup - it was played immediately after their CTF game. It would've been game number 4 on their humpday writeup... Killer Irishman had a field day with them!

... I just noticed that Killer Irishman's 'glory shot' is now a picture of him headshotting LukeMS in that very game.

Now this is what I'm talking about! Why wasn't this on the front page?

I think that if the games had been different, like no guests, that the Bungie employees would not have had such an easy chance to win all three games. Just a thought since they I was reading Lukems stickie in Optimatch about playlists and read the rationale for BTB being ranked or unranked. So ridiculous.

I don't understand how this is considered 'gaming with fame', I mean all 3 games had 2 guests on the other team... that means 3 people had TINY screens, and 2 of those 3 don't even have their own account/360/halo3 disc. 'Fame' would be people from MLG or even just some of the better randoms off the forums, or even yet, anyone with a level 50 (trust me it's not hard to find them, it took me 2 weeks on/off to get mine).

Not to be mean, but you guys only won 50-40 with guests on the opposing team, and you guys actually work for Bungie. That means people who barely play at all came close to beating the creators of the game itself. Once again, no offense, just pointing out the irony.
