Because it is annoyingly difficult to comply to contest rules for multiple different countries.

Prom, maybe you should make it clearer what the goal of the contest is. It looks like a speedrun contest, but that would make the scoring irrelevant, wouldn't it?

you only need one set of rules..to be set by a standard time zone....PST for example.

maybe next time I guess..

No, it has to do with the prize for the winner. It gets very difficult between countries, although this might be an exception.

Prometheus, I suggest you look into the MS points thing, see how that works across countries.

Someone had brought up in a previous contest that the 25-digit code is country-specific, and that, if I purchase the prize in the US, it could not be redeemed on an account registered in a different country.

I understand this is a huge inconvienience, that much of the B.net community is international, and I will do my best to confirm/bebunk this, but I simply don't have the time to do it right now. I'll try to get a definite answer before the next contest wins, else a new type of prize will need be found.

I apologize again. Please bear with me.

Good competition idea. If only I could enter.

Anyway I will look into the Xbox Live MS Points thing, but I was under the impression that they were not localized.

As was I, but better safe than sorry at this point. I sent in an email to Xbox Live Customer Support. I'm waiting for a response.

Video games don't affect children

If PacMan had affected us as kids then we'd all be running around in dark rooms, gobbling up magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music......

...... Been to a rave lately?

so, final clarification. This is a speedrun? or a highscoring thing? or a mix?

You do realize that the Customer Support is just various responces sent back by a computer that couldn't even give you instructions to breath... then again it may know the answer. I'd do this contest but my xbox isn't hooked up to live right now and it doesn't look like I can even access my acount anyway since the toolbar doesn't apear for me on xbox.com and it's a silver acount with no rep and a question mark for a gamerpic on here...

3.) You can submit up to three submissions. All submissions must have taken place between 12 Noon on Friday 11-16-07 and Sunday 12:01 AM (Midnight) PST on Monday 11-19-07. No sooner, no later.

Does this mean the run has to take place during this time? Or we have to submit it during this time? I mean, I did a pretty good run of The Covenant a few weeks ago - can I submit that? Or will I have to do a new run?

Halo3Planet, the place for all things Halo 3..

Need help finding skulls, make sure to go here.

I would assume the contest will be based on the total amount of points scored, considering he has asked for scoring to be on. I do not see any other reason to have it on.

  • 11.17.2007 6:44 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

Speedrunning only adds to your score, but speed is nothing without finesse.

Also, I find it odd that these codes are region specific. I had a COD4 beta code, and I gave it to a friend in the UK, and it worked, even though the beta wasn't available in that region at the time. You sure that someone from another country can't redeem this?

Indeed. This is a points-based contest. Go as fast as you'd like, but you're going to need kills to win.

I don't know for sure, but I intend to find out.

Check the OP for recent changes to the contest rules.

Changes are as follows:
Clarification that this is a points-based contest, and not a speed run.
This contest is now available in the UK, and has been extended a few extra days.

A few extra irrelevent wording changes, too.

Good luck, guys!

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

One question though. Is the contest available for us Norwegian fans as well?

I was under the impression that the MS Points codes were not localized, but without any official word from Microsoft on this we are assuming that they are not. I have offered to buy and send the prize if someone in the UK wins. But I think that European codes will all be the same, and if they are I can also send codes to other European countries. Hopefully Microsoft will get back to us soon.

It says in the original post why. Basically if someone from the UK wins I will purchase the points and send the code to the winner. (I am English and live in the UK).
