I keep hearing about 16 players max for Halo2 online. Perhaps that's the best Bungie can do while keeping the game playable with voice chat. And I'm cool with that. But could there possibly be more? I recall an interview with a MS exec, that said there would be 16 players max at first on Live, but that was no hard cap; there would be more possible in the future.

Are dedicated servers hosted by companies, XBOXs?
Or can they use more powerful PC servers to host XBOX games?
If MS hosted H2 games with their own servers, could'nt we get more players per game online? Regular peer-to-peer XBOX Live sessions could be capped at 16. (Although I've been on a few of my friend's XBOX servers from Canada, and it seemed like they could have held more. Canadians, it seems, have really good high speed connections.)
If this so, I think it would be a good idea, especially since H2 is going to be the utlimate Live showpiece.
Comments, please?

Microsoft runs servers for certain games that have a dedicated server option. And currently, there is no Xbox game that requires a "uber server" to host gameplay data. Xbox servers will suffice, for now.. But games like True Fantasy Online will need a "uber server". The Xbox would rock as a client, cause they kind of suck as a server.

The monkah was away for two years.. Who knows, maybe he was dicking around with some real servers. With some real hardware. And making gorilla sounds like Tim "the tool man" Taylor.

Mr. Freekill, if you would...
Are you using a regular high-speed connection, or a specialty super-fast one? (T1 or something, I think.)
Yea, like I said, I'm amazed when our Canuks host our games in Canada, and the connections are great.

Could that be what the "Stats" is for? Or is that just for Halo PC?
Or nothing at all to do with dedicated servers, just scores you can check on here?

Yeah, I'm from Canada and my Internet speed is DSL, and the last time I check it was running at 100 mbps( Mega-Bits Per Second), which I suppose is pretty good. Everyone I know who has Xbox Live is either using an DSL connection on Live, and here in Canada basically the only Internet serive you can get is DSL.

I didn't even think dsl was capable of sending data at 100mbps. WTF? I think you're pulling our leg. ; )

I dunno man, the modem I have is fast. The one I have seems pretty normal for people to have right now with the Internet service I'm using.
