I agree with you. But IMO, this falls under the old adage "There's no such thing as bad publicity." Besides, I betcha Bungie's announcement will be much more in depth and detailed than these other speculative stories and sites.

Can we still blame Microsoft?

I agree to a point Weggie. I think that the "official Bungie announcement" will probably be more in depth than anything on the other websites, but it seems by that time it will have lost some of its "thunder" so to speak. I think it's just a trend that it seems that the Bungie community is the last to know anything.

How could you be the last to know if you already know? Give the community more credit than to sit on their hands waiting.

Bungie's never been one to rush anything. They take their time for a reason, cause they want to get it right the first time. Not rush a story out because someone else might beat them to the punch. That's bush league, which is why I never trust another non-Bungie site about Halo.

PS. Did you ever think some stories might be leaked on purpose to garner the most publicity possible? wink wink, nudge nudge say no more.

From the Bungie Weekly Update
But, on Monday (November 19) folks are definitely going to want to check back in here at Bungie.net and keep faces pressed to their monitors like children breathing on school bus windows in November, because there will be news. Oh yes, there will be news.
It would seem that, this time, they simply haven't got around to posting the news on Bnet. Yet.

I know that this is a very tired and old complaint, and one that is posted quite often, but please take it with a grain of salt. I think that the renewed community focus, such as being done by Ash and Prommie and Muffin Man and everyone else is great. Don't be discouraged and think I'm lamenting about those efforts.

Well the announcement hit the front page, and it's safe to say that we now have a lot more information about the three new maps than we did from other sites and rumor mills.

I definitely understand your frustration Lies. But without being a fly on the wall at Bungie headquarters, it's hard to tell how much of these types of leaks are calculated vs. last to the party. My guess is it's a little bit of both.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

It is usually because we don't put up direct press releases on Bungie.net preferring to have more in-depth information.

This time, part of it is because it is the week of Thanksgiving, and the studio is essentially closed all week. The last week of the year (Christmas thru New Year) is similar.

I figured it had something to do with the Thanksgiving holiday and most of the people being out of the office. I'm glad they cleared up how the maps will work in Matchmaking though, because I was rather curious about how that would work out. Are we going to see another "Team Preview" like we did in Halo 2? I figure it will probably be unranked this time around, but it would be interesting.

I understand that Bungie waits to put more "in-depth" info into their reports, but it just seems that even with that extra detail it could be done before other outlets put out their info. I understand that this time around it was mainly due to holidays falling in the same week.

Oh, and Achronos, I wear a 48 Reg. tux jacket =)
