Here's a cost rundown of previous Halo 2 downloadable maps.

Bonus Map Pack - Containment and Warlock - Free
Killtacular Map Pack - Sanctuary and Turf - $6
Maptacular Map Pack - Gemini, Relic, Elongation, Terminal, and Backwash - $12
A Little Too Late There, Buddy Pack - Tombstone and Desolation - $4

Personally, I feel that $10 is too much for three maps. There's not enough value there for $10. Gears of War had four maps for $10 (although even then I felt that the price was too high). You can get a full XBLA game, Exit, for $10 (yes it's a PSP port, but it's a big game). If it were up to me, I'd offer the three maps for $5. I don't mind paying for additional content, but I do believe in paying a fair price and not one that almost seems like price-gouging.

There is a simple solution to this. If you truly feel that $10 is too much for three maps, DO NOT BUY THEM. Resist the urge of succumbing to peer pressure and stand your ground. You can do all the complaining you want in the Bungie forum, but the only way you'll convince Microsoft to lower the price of these maps is to not buy them.

When the maps will become free next year and Bungie offers the next set of maps, they'll look at how many people bought the first pack. If the numbers are low, then Bungie and Microsoft will realize that they overcharged their first pack and will offer the second pack at a lower price. However, if people still buy the first pack in droves, then expect more 3 for $10 packs in the future. It's free market principles at its finest, and the future of Bungie map pricing schemes is up to you.

Where do you stand?

I agree.

TAKE A STAND
DO NOT BUY ITEMS YOU FEEL ARE TOO EXPENSIVE
DO NOT GIVE INTO PEER PRESSURE
RESIST THE URGE OF SUCCUMBING TO THE PRICES

Where do you stand?

You want to know where I stand?
well personaly think that you are a bunch of cheap nubs and should stop complaining
If 10 dollars is too much money for you dont pay because no ones going to care,
if you dont bungie isnt going to miss your 10 dollars they wouldnt miss 1000 peoples 10 dollars,
get over yourself

if you dont like this so much go find a new game to play

also some one on a previous page said something about haveing to have a credit card to buy microsoft points - that is incorrect
if you live in america you can go to any local gamestore, kmart, target, or walmart and buy 1600 points for about 19.99(in most places)
if you dont live in america sorry but im not sure what stores supply them where you live but im sure there is somewhere

This really is stupid Bungie charged about $2-3 per map in halo2 map packs and now that they want to charge 33 cents more per map there's a problem? if you ask me that's an even better deal than the $3 for a halo2 map. The halo3 maps are going to be much higher quality, be able to be edited to your personal enjoyment and will have taken more time to create than the halo2 maps. you should thank Bungie for not charging more for the maps.

yes they'll be usable in forge. that's why there was a section that asks what objects would be in the forge for the maps. You probably would have gotten that if you read the article, but thats assuming you can read.

WTF .. personally i am outraged at the fact there going to make people spend 10 bucks on maps that will force people to upgrade or be left in the dust.
Something that clearly changes gameplay should be put out for free.. not like Halo 3 didn't make enough money.
I will not buy these maps , and i ain't gonna play this game until the maps go free, that plus i know a large number of gamers that will not pay for them either.
Spring 2008 is when they will be free.. why not make them free to begin with?
Seriously Microsoft and Bungie , pull your heads out of your arses and listen to what people have said already.
Now i'd understand if this was game tips that improved your game , yes charge for that.
But maps that half the community , 10 bucks for something that will be free eventually.
Eh i'll pass , and i'll pass on playing Halo 3 if this affects how long it takes for me to find a game.
And since it takes about 1-3 minutes to find a game now , remove half the community and now it takes 1-6 minutes.. i'm gonna stop playing.
So Bungie you lose by charging for this.

Halo 3 Academy Staff
RvB Episode 100- Sarge destroying computer Vic says "Whoa dude that was my Heat Sink now how the f*** am I going to sink my heat"

PETA: People for the Eating of Tasty Animals

the other 2 maps and probly 1 or 2 more will probly come in the next DLC (probly for another 10$) but the price isnt that bad

how much time did they spend on them and how much of the money will microsoft take and what is wrong with a company making money also i bet they arenot making very much off this

do u really think they should make the maps free they worked to make them so deserve to get paid what if u worked and werent paid

if u would want these for free would that not be communism

these maps are a higher quality than halo 2 maps so comparing them is not really fair

anyone know if DLC only hopper is ranked or social

figure i'd post a little something extra.
After reading the post above about how someone says your cheap for not spending 10 bucks.
Think of it this way , if i owned a PS3 right now , i wouldn't have to spend 70 bucks a year just to play a game that technically says on the back of the box that it has mutliplayer and only in smaller .. much smaller text that you need to have a gold account that costs $$$ to play.
And in some countries there is no place that sells mircrosoft game point cards. I live in Canada , right across from the border and they are hard to find , and they cost about 30 bucks for 1000 points in some places.
Just its a scam . I will wait for a lower price.. i think if they said the 3 maps were 2 bucks a price , or heck the fact the game made 300 million dollars in the first week , covering the complete cost of making the game and now its only making profit , i'd say 5 bucks or 400 microsoft points.

Bungie...Where's The Banhammer?

Wrong, forums are places where people talk about and discuss both positives and negatives on a certain subject. Do you even know what the 1st amendment is by chance? If you don't know, it's freedom of speech. Just because you will kiss bungie's ass, doesn't mean someone else will.

I personally think it's a load of crap what Bungie is doing to the "Halo Nation". I mean damn Bungie we are your fans, we have followed everyone of your Halo games and this is what we get, a broken, average, rip off of a game. Bungie please stop making promises if you can't follow through on them. Bungie, why are you putting out these 3 maps for $10 when you haven't even fixed the Broken BS in this game yet. How can you even look yourselves in the mirror and think you are doing a favor to the fans, when you continually just trample all over the community's concerns and ideas to fix some issues to make Halo 3 a better experience.

Bungie, if you honestly believe a sane person would purchase these maps when there are still so many issues that haven't been dealt with, you are sadly mistaken. I for one will not purchase these maps, because I don't won't to support a company that is failing to deliver and continues to piss all over it's loyal fans with this BS.

What do you get for $10...???

1. A map we already paid for, but wasn't finished in time..? (According to Christopher Barrett)
....(Jordell Bank: now known as Standoff)

2. A map for forge/custom games only..? (I hope I'm wrong on this one...)
....(Vandelay: now known as Foundry)

3. And one more map just because..?
....(John Carpenter's Prince of Dorkness: now known as Rat's Nest)

4. Oops... not this one yet..?
....(Purple Reign: ????)

5. Oops again... not this one either yet..?
....(O.K. Corral: ????)

Three maps are better than none, but what are we really getting for $10...???

One new map for MM that was not intended to be in the original release and one new map that's only for Forge and Custom games. In my book that counts as 1 and 1/2 maps not 3... But that's just my own crazy math at work.

To wait or not to wait...? This is the question...!!!

Don't bother PMing me about rating your screen shot.

Will the coming of new maps increase your maximum custom content capacity?

Bungie will you please make small symmetrical maps with no shield doors for competitive gametypes. Midship was an amazing map because of the symmetry and it allowed for competitive Free For Alls as well as Team Slayer and other team objective gametypes. It also didn't encourage a whole lot of camping unlike a lot of the H3 maps. I mean jeez 3/4ths of construct isnt used.and alot of the other maps just encourage way too much camping. please just make maps with competitive play in mind. look through the mlg forums to see what people want and dont want. why do you continuously make huge big team maps. bigger is not always better please make something to satisfy the not so n00by.

  • 11.19.2007 5:25 PM PDT

$10 for 3 maps will Bungie ever learn it seems that they just keep getting more greedy. The last Gears map pack was $10 but it had 5 maps no way in **** is it worth it for 3. Granted it's not like it really matters I haven't touched H3 since COD 4 came out and I've been busy with Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect comes out tomorrow there really isn't a reason to go back to Halo.

Wow 800ms points, for three maps. One of them they said was supposed to come with the game. What a rip off. No wonder why nobody plays this game any more/already. Bungie you needed to deliver a lot more than just two and half maps. I see this game community failing very quickly. I doubt you’ll have the support from the community as you did in HALO 2. Now that you have competition from other game dev. So many things are missing from this game. It's just too much to list.

Bungie' you have better start producing some amazing content. Other wise this game will go down as the fastest downfall of any game community ever.

  • 11.19.2007 5:29 PM PDT

Because I never had time for a quote.

Why give for free what some people will pay for? They have already bought the game, so even if they boycott this new mappage, they wont be hrting anything, even if many people wait until they come out for free, if they come out for free, some will still buy it, and thats the bottom line. Money. O, that medium of exchange that drives the business world, some have it, and some don't, but everyone decides to use it how they want, and on what they feel is most worth it to them, in order to avoid turning this into an economics lesson, complaining probably wont solve anything, but you will anyway.

[EDIT]: Also, people seem to give an outraged cry to 'Bungie', which is a faceless entity that cannot hear your cries for financial lenience and mercy, and the employees at bungie probably don't care that you don't want to spend money on their product, they aren'y ginving things away, and they arent working for free. One would like to note that there is a large fanbase, but I doubt that charging 10 dollars for 3 maps will utterly destroy the Bungie gaming community, charging 10 dollars for 1 map, and never making it free would cause a larger impact, yet the community will always have 'ultrafans' and critics that want every game too be a copy of the one they liked the most.

I was I Magz I

CB: Foundry was designed from the beginning to be a Forge level. There is an almost limitless amount of potential map designs that can be made by arranging objects in different configurations.

You can remake Hang ‘Em High out of crates. Kind of.

SC: The second you see someone delete the entire level in Forge, you realize the potential a space like this has. The default layout Tyson put together is great, but the possibilities are definitely greater.

Why would we want to remake hang 'em high instead of the guys at bungie to do it? WEll I am still buying these maps. I can see the rip-off kind of mentality though.
