3 medium sized maps, and they're all human based, unsuprising. Why is it that everyone uses the human stuff? What's wrong with the Covenant weapons, and architecture? Why no small maps? Why is almost every map on earth?

That's another good question. Why are most of the maps human based? I know some of Halo 3 takes place on Earth, but do the MP maps have to? I was hoping for a map that takes place in a Covenant battle Crusier(Like the two levels from Halo 1. I'm praying that is what Purple Reign is.). And why are all of the levels in daytime? I haven't seen one map in night time. Most of the levels are too one-sided for Forge, either having more Human stuff, or Covenant stuff, and seeing how all 3 maps are human from what I saw, I'm guessing this will be a similar scenario with similar choices for Forge stuff in general.

Not very cool, Bungie.

If u didnt notice guys it takes place on earth!!!! DUH

Yes, Halo 3 campaign does take place on Earth, but that doesn't mean the maps have to. Read the whole post before quoting.

I did read the whole quote and im saying, it taked place on earth

  • 11.25.2007 12:23 PM PDT

It's Ob1shw4n -blam!-ES!

poor price for only 3 maps, u need to make some more maps or atleast remake old halo 1and 2 maps and take sum maps of of earth ad a more space feeling (the three new maps are all on earth...boring) or come out with new armor variants and fix the respawns on HIgh Ground

At first when hearing the news of 3 new maps for 10 bucks I didn’t think about it. As a dedicated Halo player who is never strapped for cash I was like "right on". But than the math didn’t add up.
It's the friggin principal of the matter. The game it's self with packaging cost me 60 bucks. And that’s the WHOLE Game! If this pricing is accurate than the 11 maps alone cost 35 bucks, which leaves the game with all of its coding at 25 bucks?!? So don’t go telling people to basically be quite for speaking out an injustice on pricing. The bottom line is that it is indeed outrageous. When you do the math it's very apparent.
So I guess were paying for the connivance of having it delivered directly to our hard drives. Yet, that doesn't even make sense when you consider the alternative of paying for packaging. You could calculate gas if you want to get real frugal, but I believe most everyone goes to town at least once a week anyway, and the majority: near everyday.
I don’t know if you are aware of the uproar of one of the first DLC for XBL 360. A game called Elder Scrolls Oblivion tried to charge their costumers 2.50$ for a set of armor you could put on your horse. The community acted, and voiced their opinion and Bethesda never attempted such a staggering price gouge again.
But then a fan will usually over pay for any morsel. It’s just a #@$$$$$ shame Microsoft/ bungie doesn’t have enough respect for us fans.
And what the heck is this are you talking about merger and Microsoft wanting Bungie only for Halo3. Dude, Microsoft payed Bungie 50 million to be their profit machine in the middle of creating Halo1.But all in all it was a good merge that benefited both parties at the time. And now the companies are parting and you are saying Microsoft dumped Bungie? In reality you got it in reverse. For one Microsoft would have been in a much more secure position to keep Bungie on board, ensuring the future profit of future Halo games, knowing that the same creative effort and loving labor would be in the details. Now that MS owns the Halo IP, they are on the shaky grounds of needing an other studio to develop future titles.
For another, more than half of the Bungie team was talking about walking out the door if the change did not occur. Granted Bungie, now as a publisher, has more to stress about. However from all that I have read it's an exchange for freedom and they are more then willing to go at risk.
So you could be angry, even hostile over my post, or even to the insane degrees of being hostile towards the faceless poster. You may even be inclined to call me a noob if you believe it to be an insult. But honestly it doesn’t change a thing.
I'm simply annoyed at the price and am giving a real justification to someone who thinks they have the real answer. Educate yourself a little more. After all you actually sound well articulate and have great structure in your message. You're just confused.

can anybody just shutup sometimes? they're awesome maps, stop whining about it and if you want to, pay the ten bucks. if you dont, dont buy it. you'll be missing out, so stop whining. if you dont want to but the maps, dont come and -blam!- to us. we want to buy the maps because we love the game and need some variety. dont whine to us.

Ok great job by bungie but now its time for microsoft to step up and let the players be really creative. Forge is great but in order to keep the game fresh, not overload the programmers, and keep people playing; an open program that would allow users to create maps on their pc and export them to consoles is a logical step. All we need is the power of numbers to convince microsoft that this is the way to move so come on people lets start complaining.

Complaining like children will only get you ignored.

And no, that's not a good idea. It opens the games to a whole new level of exploits. In order to prevent those exploits from happening, it would require even more time for submissions to be properly tested and approved. If you want full-on user created mods, stick to PC gaming. Here, you're playing on Microsoft's proprietary platform; expect to obey their rules, which they have every right to enforce.

Why would Microsoft care? They no longer own Bungie. Shouldn't you be petitioning Bungie? Not that it matters. Because they were owned by Microsoft for so long, they'll do as they please and not what 1. makes sense or 2. what users want.

If these maps are anything like the current Halo 3 maps, $10 is about $9.99 too much...

I think we can all agree that halo 2 maps > halo 3 maps

so bungie there is a simple solution

why not add in a couple redone halo 2 maps into the map pack

everyone would stop complaining and the game would be a lot more fun
sometimes the classics are just the best

lockout needs no improving

and please
dont put a gazillion maulers on these maps

  • 11.25.2007 10:56 PM PDT

Live to kill. Kill the bad, and save the good. Or just shut up and shoot something.

Hi,

The fan boys, still are not seeing the big picture... some guy did at the top of the forum. But again the fan boys stepped in, and told him to shut up... $10 isnt much your right, NO one is saying it is... READ posts please,,,, What we are saying, is how many people play halo 3 online, and will buy the maps. if just the people that are online now, they will get $1.3 million from just 3 maps.... and then what is stopping Bungie from next time asking for £20 for 3 maps.. will you pay that? Upto what will the fan boys pay just to use halo 3 maps?

Its a shame, it really is... I used to love halo,,,

Epic Fail. Bungie played the good cop when Halo 2 downloadable content was announced and priced, blaming Microsoft for charging their fans, but after the massive success of all three Halo games and two PC cash-ins, Bungie (self-owned and now thus able to choose its own pricing, free or otherwise) shows its true colours by turning around and charging fans (still partly dividing the community into haves and have nots, despite their insistence to the contrary) for three maps for its underwhelming sequel. Hypocrites and sell-outs.

Not only that, they look boring. Halo was a brilliant game, in part, because of its expansive, beautiful, and even epic natural environments. Where are the jungle multiplayer maps? How about an expansive and green mountainous terrain (not just the little mountain enclosure of Valhalla)? Indoor environments are largely boring, and Standoff looks about as stimulating as its dust-swept appearance.

The only upside is if Bungie adds man-cannons, shield doors, stairs and bridges to the original maps Forge inventories, which I highly doubt it will, having seen how underdeveloped the Forge was and probably will always be.

PATHETIC!

Dear Bungie,

i apologize on behalf of my fellow community members, we all appreciate the effort and hard work put into these maps. I'm so happy that you have announced these maps and have set a release date so soon. We're getting a good deal from this as were not just paying for the maps were also being given the opportunity to take these maps and give them our own little bit of flavor. Sure i have my scepticisms (i hope thats a word) as well, like some smaller lockout/midship-esque maps & the the btreathtaking remakes that give the nolstalgia high i long for, however i'm confident however that Foundry will satisfy any arena type urges, it is very unfortunate that people take forgranted the wonderful forge. Thank you so much! I think there is more than were seeing
love, Retro TZA
