Ok so ever since I tried installing the 1.06 thing my halo pc will search for like 2 minutes for an update and then find nothing and then try to find the message of the day for like 1 minute. WHen I press get list nothing happens and when I press back halo will freeze for like 30 seconds and then go back. I can play Campaign, but I can't play online. I tried reinstalling it, I've tried uninstalling everything (including saved games and profiles, whic btw is pissing me off cause now I can't play any level on the single player whenver I want to). I've tried installing it somewhere else. I've even tried manually installing the update. Nothing works. I also went to the halo directgory and double ckicked the halo update icon and it found an update and installed it, but the same thing happens. Is there anything I can do?

I installed it allright, but now almost every server I join in has lag. Another problem I still have is that sometimes the game will freeze when loading a new game. I can't even close it with the ctrl-alt-delete!

i dont know what you guys are talking about but saw the message for the manual update and didnt get if for a while then finally went to bungie and got it
i do notice that some games have a lag here and there but not everywhere
although that might be because someone with dialup is in the server (try playing a game with a ping of over 2000) and i have cable internet and a new video card
beat that -blam!-es
anyway i dont have any problems with it

You realise saying you have no problems and bragging about it doesn't help this topic at all, don't you? I think this is ment to help the guy, not brag about your "awesome" comp.

Heyyo,

Yeah, let's try to be constructive, and not flamming like that guy who said HPC sucks when obviously he's a n00b that deserves his Counter-Strike Source, lol... soooo n00b-iesque compared to CS 1.6 and down.

Anywho, many people have probs with this new patch, it seems to be very unstable. Now, the way you patched it, did you try to auto-update patch, or download the patch separate? whatever one you tried, try it the other way, see if that helps any. I'm kindof douptful, but ya never know eh?

At least Far Cry's v1.2 patch admitted to serious compatibility problems and removed the patch.... Bungie gives us no confirmations, or news of future patches... we're just left in the dark... Far Cry now has a v1.3 patch with lots of great fixes including better netcode, improved preformance (especially the ATI 9600 series! w00t!), and weapon balance (they listened to the community, kickass eh?).

Ok, I e-mailed M$, telling them my current problem of not being able to install HaloPC, and I also threw in some suggestions like improve the netcode (I gave them a link to the delagginator), better teamkilling ban code, and better weapon balace (make the fuel rod less of a n00bcannon of spammingness, and make the rocketlauncher more skilled by reducing splash damages in radius, forcing players to shoot it more accurately instead of anywhere within 4 feet of the guy...)

I'll try n' keep you guys updated on how M$ handles this. Don't keep your fingers crossed though, we are talking aboot M$ here, lol.

To Mard: First I tried the seperate thing (because I had 1.05). Then I Uninstalled Halo and Installed Halo (I even deleted saved games and profile, which as you know I am pissed off of). So then I tried Auto Updating in the game, it didn't even see the update. So I unisntalled and Installed again and tried to manually auto update it (when you go into the halo folder and double click the halo update icon). It found an update, downloaded it, and installed it, but when I played Halo same thing happened. So then I uninstalled and then installed again and tried to manually update it with the 1.06 patch for 1.0-1.04 users (since I reinstalled it I presume my update is back to 1.0?). It installed, but still no luck. So the last thing I haven't done, is manually deleting every halo related file and then manually install the 1.06 patch and pray it works. Although I'm hoping you guys can shed some light on this and show me an easier way.

To ky0 d4 l337 m457:
I don't care how awesome your computer is, but if I did I'd bet my computer is more awesome =P.

Ok I have no idea what to do. I tried everything and I can't play halo multiplayer. Is there any possible way to play this game?

try re-installing, or checking your firewall settings.

If you read everything I typed up there, you'd find out I reinstalled it thousands of times... as for firewall, I turned off my firewall and the windows firewall is disabled, but just in case I even added halo to the exceptions list... I'm just confused on what to do

Sounds just like the problem I had so try what I did. Start with a new install.

There I was, 5 am reinstalling for the billionth time, and I say to myself, SELF, 1.06 is a security patch SO I went to the explorer security settings and set the security setting for the internet to medium low, and low and behold started the game downloaded the patch and connected immediatly to the game spy servers. DUH. Now I'm not sure if this will help everyone BUT from reading the threds it seems as though most of the problems were the same. GOOD LUCK.
