Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I haven't played much on GoW PC(it's not just for Vista), but on H2V I have played a great deal and the only bug I've experienced is the one in campaign about the checkpoint not matching the one on Live.

What about Halo PC? How many bugs and glitches does it have?(bump, please on DC)

-blam!- that didn't quote did it. Aggy, I was referring to your BS platter on this post. You'd be right on the other *slaps face*.

There are enough people playing. There is no matchmaking though, just a good old fashioned server browser.

Hello! Star Wars FTW. Also, join the MAW group. Please?

Sheesh, sorry. Yes I realize the bull-blam!- that M$ is trying to pull off with H2V (paying for user provided features? wtf?0) And the -blam!-iness of the port (resolutions not supported, no filters, no rcon) but I bought the game before knowing any of that and if I did I probably still would have bought it, becuase I don't have an XBox and I really wanted to play through the campaign. I generally agree with what you say agy, but you are being a little agressive.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I bought it but only got like 15 FPS on most maps while i can get 60 FPS in Doom 3, so sent it back and had it refunded.

All I ever read about H2V now on h2vista.net, forums.haloonwindowsvista.com, and the H2V board on GameFAQs is how people are met with numerous bugs and problems with the game, and over half of the problems are just installing. What actually ended up happening, if you can remember, was that the first thousand or so copies they sent to marketers were faulty CDs, so installation or CD detection never even worked. That alone tells me what kind of effort was put into the product. You don't say, "Ok, the product is finished," until it actually is. Microsoft, on the other hand, gave the go on an unfinished, recycled product, and I'm still seeing the same exact problems to this day.

Halo PC now, at least, has zero installation bugs I am aware of. But that matters little when the community has been dying for the past year as well. The real fact of the matter is that one game thrived much better then the other. Halo 2 Vista never launched. The ignition button was pressed and it fell off the launch pad and rolled off into the Atlantic Ocean. And what response do we have from Bungie? Zero. What response do we have from Microsoft? Zero. And what defense do they play? "We weren't involved in its production."

Sheesh, sorry. Sorry, that's just me. I get passionate about these failed marketing ploys. I just don't want to see anyone fall to it again and come out with dissatisfaction. You had ulterior motives to buy the game; some how I doubt thousands of others didn't just buy the game for the campaign aspect though.

Wow... i can't believe that halo 2 only has 60-80 players online.... but didn't halo 2 for vista sell millions of copies?
I doubt it hit over 5,000 units. When the game was first released, it was a ghost town. Only specific stores had copies, and they were even limited then. Like I said, without any clear backing up for it or a clear direction to a community, the game was dead before it was even Live.

Well lets just assume they're all idiots (which fits your perception) and go find out yourself. And at least they did catch the installation [problem, there have been many recalls for games with problems and it's usually the sponsors pushing for a releases fault, not the developers. And the game does install fine, the idiots that said that likely didn't know how to install a file correctly (god knows how) or tried using xp and were like "omg wtf, h2 vista won't work on xp," The game has 60-80 people online, that is true, and that is satisfactory for me and should be for most people. I'm not hailing the game, in fact I think it was a bad port, but it's not deserve the criticism your throwing at it.

Chill out.

It deserves actually a lot more criticism then what I'm throwing at it. It's horrible. Don't try and sugar coat it. 60-80 people are PEAK times. And I already posed the question of how many of those games AREN'T will stupid game types or with cheaters. The game and port are beyond flawed. There were no immediate fixes. And what, your only excuse is that you think people are dumb enough on not knowing how to install a program? Who's the naive one here? My niece knows how to install programs, and she's seven. It's not complicated, nor should it be.

I honestly don't care one way or another if you're still eating the garbage they're feeding you. I'm not going to let you lead another lamb to the slaughter, sorry, and, as such, he has the right to know the truth to how much of a failure this game is. 30 - 40 people was not the intended community, especially when over half of them are asshat cheaters. Sorry, I already know this tune, so I'm not bothering to stick around to hear how the song ends, especially when there's only a few tuning in on the radio to the same tune.

What I probably find most amusing about this is how you're a big conspiracy theorist and here you are playing victim to a very real marketing ploy. Again, who's the naive one?

I'm not eating it. I'm admitting it's a bad game. You act like the -blam!- world just blew up.

And by the way, there's a difference between believing in a conspiracy about 9-11 and going all insane about the game. Not only here but on the h2v forums, you really seam to hate these games like they did something to you. I'm not giving into a marketing ploy, I'm simply saying the game isn't worth the amount of effort you throw at it.

And your theory about cheaters is pretty much bull. I've seen only one h2v cheater, and that was in a youtube video. I've owned the game for a few months and I have never found one on a server.

  • 11.29.2007 1:23 PM PDT

Halo 1 has AT LEAST 200 cheaters. I've seen one in h2v, gave him bad rep, reported as cheater and he was chasing me and all of the sudden. POOF, said he quit.

One thing about the game is too many HW games and maps I dont Like
ES Clan server was my favorite server on H2v and I plan on making my own server as a copy of what that one was.

How exactly does expressing the truth equate my hate for a game? GoW Vista and H2V are pitiful ports with minimal effort put into them with countless bugs. They are unfinished, recycled products. If you want to buy a half-grown melon that fell off the back of the truck for the full price of a full-grown market melon, then be my guest. You're the one making the bad decision here, not me.
In the defense of Epic Games, although I never played GOW PC, at least they were courteous enough to add new content; a new campaign chapter, maps, and gametype? Something that Bungie/Hired Gun failed to do.

But yes, GFWL fails.

I play Halo 2 Vista, but I think it's generally a pretty crappy, or at most, mediocre port.

I have Gears of Windows, and I have to say it's very good. My computer is utter crap:

1 GB of RAM
Running Vista (that's a bad thing, it's incredibly inefficient and runs games like crap compared to XP)
Intel Pent. D @ 2.80
ATI Radeon 2400 XT

It can run an Xbox game, H2V pretty well at Medium settings. Yet, it can run Gears of Windows--a 360 game--at Medium settings, look utterly BEAUTIFUL, and still get a very, very high framerate. I think Gears of Windows' engine is incredibly efficient, and the port was done very well. I shouldn't even call it a port, because new content was added as well, which H2V fails to do (besides two new, mediocre maps that don't even have the Bungie "feel").

Needless to say, I did not pay a penny for each. I got both for free. As a gift... from the Internet.

No way I'd pay $60 for that crappy, mediocre port done by a retarded small team of people living in cubicles, where some intern names Jason is the most popular person at the water-cooler.

'Gears of Windows' Lol.

Yeah Unreal Engine III is optimized very well. My friend has a PC with these specs- 1.5GB RAM, 3.0GHZ single core, 7800GTX and Windows XP and he can run GoW on high with a frame rate that jumps from 25-40 FPS.

I know that, silly. I didn't feel the need to point that out, but I guess I do.

But yeah, I think it's incredibly optimized. My computer is crap, and can run that game incredibly well. My friend has this old-ass computer that has an Intel Pent. III, 512 MB of RAM, and it can STILL run UT3 :D

I call shenanigans, I don't even think the game would install with specs like those.

What's with all the Vista haters? It's not Microsoft's fault you don't know how to disable a few services to enhance performance.

H2V wasn't the greatest port, but it's still fun. It's a game, that's what games are all about, fun. A lot of us here forgot that one important fact. If you play games just for graphics or something like that, you are surely missing out.

UT3 did run on my friend's system, but of course, almost everything had to be turned down. And the draw-distances were crap. But it still ran, and it was still playable.

Also, what are you talking about? Only caring about graphics? That's absurd...

Actually, you know what? I'm too tired to even say why I think that's absurd, and why Vista can't run games (for the most part) very well. I have to get off the forums...

It can run windows better eh, explain that one for me. If you are trying to insinuate that your macbook pro has superior specs to all of the windows PCs out there then you are really as delusional as any of the other apple fanboys.
