A good sniper can kill a opponent on a ghost at close range if the ghost is mainly toying with him trying to go for the over the hood kill. Wait until they boost toward you and jump over their hood. As you are in the air whip your aim around with your rifle and zoom once. By the time they come out of the boost and turn to try and come for another pass. You have a split second to snipe them from a side ghost profile. Rather than straight ahead or behind. Two shots should end a ghost this way, and keep the ghost intact for you to use to boost to another hiding spot. I recommend ditching it behind some cover and moving on foot. Or keep it around and renew it now and then so you could use it to boost from a spot if you are found out. However you choose. If your daring enough to draw a ghosts attention. Use that tactic and you are sure to find it works. If your aim in motion isnt the best. Always carry sticky grenades..... eventhough they are out of the way in big levels. A good sniper always has plasma grenades, because its better to rely on a quick stick when your only carrying a rifle and a close quarters weapon. The ghost will always have the advantage, but sticky grenades help balance this out.

a real sniper doesnt go for the most kills so if you want to be a lead scorer on your team dont pick up the sniper rifle. you need to understand that there is limited ammo for a SN and you might not have a chance to go get more so this is what i do.

1) forget shooting and just watch for key players (there is always one dominant player in the game and it should be your responsibility to stop him)
2) if you see an enemy running in the open dont immediately shoot wait to see what he's up to and inform your teammates and let them handle it, this way you dont reveal your location.
3) DONT MAKE STUPID SHOTS (if your not sure of your abilities dont waste your ammo on an impossible target)
4) dont look for the obvious things in the middle of the field always check to see if there is an enemy in the shadows. remember that its the subtle things that matter in a game.

and the most important of all...
5) RELAX, the more tense you are the less likely you are to hit anyone. Also dont get angry because of a missed shot just stay calm and finish what you started.

Remember one key kill can turn the entire game around and can be the cause of victory or defeat.

i hope this helps

Ok, how can you stalk people on small levels such as assenction, on head to head, and expecialy if they have the rocket launcher and are camping?

Patience. If you are winning, just wait for them to come out in the open. If you are losing and they are hiding, you can always look for them. If you can't find them and you really want to risk it, kill yourself, and you will be able to view thier location. If you do this make sure you have plenty of time. Once you know where they are, you can easily move unnoticed.

Every effective team should have at least one designated sniper. It is also a good idea to have several well-rounded players who can effectively use sniper rifles. If you are playing the Big Team Battle, have four assault players, three players on vehicles (if there are any), and one sniper. I have found that this combination produces good results. Go over roles with your team.

What i do for close combat is keep a pistol as my secondary weapon for close combat. at most ranges, i'm deadly w/ the pistol (and no, its not the only weapon i use) Great guide, though!

Next rule. NO CAMPING. Camping is not sniping, it is the coward's way out. You also become very obvious. Campers are not snipers, they aren't even sharpshooters. Okay then, nect topic.

I beg to differ on that one, for starters everyone says it is weak to camp but how? If the enemy runs the same way and gets sniped by the sme person twice in a row, go a different way or snipe the sniper. To every tactic there is a counter. Also you make it sound like there is no skill in camping. If you can stay in the same place, snipe people then when your position is given away, kill the enemies close range and survive, i would say it takes skill. Also if the enemy runs at you after you give away your position and u take 4 kills with 4 bullets (or less) then i think that would take a fair bit of skill as well. And whoever said the sniper is not for the top scorers of the team, you are completely wrong. I went to a lan at my friends house for halo 1 with about 14 ppl. We played a game of 7v7 ctf on blood gulch for over an hour and i took over 130 kills mostly sniping.

In halo 2 i like sniper and shotty for pretty much any situation. Only on the larger open levels like burial mounds and coagulation then a battle rifle might b better then shotgun.

Wow you guys are really needing help from this guy? The only thing you need to know about sniping is to stay out of range of all of the other guns and keep moving. Don't be a noob and line up your shots by standing still and using the look thumbstick to line up a shot. Instead put the reticle at head level and strafe into your shot. Also learn to jerk snipe, everybody who's anybody in the "leet" group knows that jerk sniping is the easiest way to get head shots. Also never drop your pistol unless you have an opportunity at a rocket sniper combo.

Personally, i think your wrong, i think that stalking, moving around, being stealthy is the best way to snipe, also i like to have a spotter or teamate with me just in case i run into some trouble, not a bad thing right? Moving on, i think it's a bad thing that you would pick up a rocket launcher instead of having a pistol, what happens if you get into close combat? My suggestion, stick with the pistol, again my opinion! I still stick with the pistol even with a teamate near me, helps sometimes. Sometimes, being in range is a really good thing instead of just staying in one area or territory, also, i dont see a problem with standing, then shooting, and then sneaking away, do you? A good thing to do instead of tracking a player, try confusing them, attack from each side, maybe a sniper from each side may keep them guessing? Not sure. Also maybe you could have a sniper rifle and a beam rifle, shoot them once with the reg. sniper, then with the beam rifle, to make them think there is more than on sniper, it works, trust me! Aslo, camping yes can be a bad thing, but if your sitting in different places , not just going to the same place over and over and over again, noobs do it all the time, pick em off one by one, but anyway, if you dont go back to the same spot twice, what is the problem? Well, that just about wraps it up, hope some people respond to this, and hikaru, keep up with the guides, maybe i could help our or something, being a fellow sniper.

Whoever thinks penguins suck, face me 1on1, i'll assault you, biznitches!

on coagulation all you do is grab the sniper go get the extra ammo and the shotgun now you have plenty of ammo and a long rang and a short range weapon

I think that I would like it better if he used "a lot" as two words instead of one. As "alot" like he uses, is really two different words, not one single word.

It has worked for me thus far, although I do it at a rapid pace. And your little thing down below doesn't really mean a thing about sniping. It really doesn't.
