I am a gamer who has been playing this game for a long time now. Bungie I like what you are doing with matchmaking but I have a good idea. I would like an unrank playlist which is an mlg only 4v4 game type. It would only be mlg game types with br start. Thanks for reading.

Doing this would make you better at sniping in Halo 2, right? Since Halo 1 has no auto aim and Halo 2 does, wouldn't following your guide improve Halo 2 sniping also?

If you play silent cartographer co-op go to the first control pannel that unlocks the door to the map room. If you look straight down you can see a platform far down below. If you reach that platform and still have the pistol you can look down and see some sort of strange building with lights at the very very bottom. I have never been able to get a good look at whatever the heck this object is, but the developers bothered to put it in so it must have some signifigance. But you can only get a glimpse of it from that very bottom platform. Does anyone out there know what im talking about? If so do you know what this mysterious object is? post pictures if you have them. please and thanks.

I love how people are so stupid that they don't even realize that this was originally meant for Halo 1 for the Xbox (although many of the tactics I have described do work in Halo 2)

fim saying good bye to this account i have fully transfered to xbl spinozaurus look me up

nice nice guide i remember reading some of this before it was even a sticky i was lookin for it for a long time an i decided to look up an bam. Any way hopefully halo 3 sniping will be more like halo 1 w/ the aiming cause in halo 2 all u got 2 do is swipe snipe. I could tell from the vidoc that it will but how much is still unknown but id have to go out on a leg an say it is thus rendering this guide usefull once agian.

I knew alot of this, but I did learn a few new tricks. Nice guide. Can you give any tips on leading? From cliffside of either base to the middle of blood gulch sometimes I catch people walking in straight lines and usually have to lead a good 2 1/2 - 3 Ft. in front of their head to get the shot. Are there any specific calculations I could use to help to know how far to lead depending on how far away I am and what angle? I know in Halo 2 the sniper bullet moves so fast you can always put the crosshair right on their head for the shot.

Hikaru,

I have been playing halo for at since i was 11. Im 15 now and im having some problems. I play halo with my sister and her friend. they are getting good because they have been playing for a while to. We usealy play them two vs.me. But my sisters friend starts to screenlook alot. AND I MEAN ALOT!!!! it gets annoing because well be playing at sidewinder or bloodgulch and ill go to pick up a gun or get ready to snipe someone and she will tell my sister exactly what im doing and were im at! I will also be running right up behind behind her or my sister and she will move or tell my sister to.I love snipeing but its sarting to get annoying when i cant get any snipeing kills or use gureilla tactics.
Please help me out. Ironmanhunter.

I'm a dude playing a dude desguised as another dude. I hate heritics, non-logical thoughts and people who are better than I am. People tell me that they like a lot of games, but I hate them all. Whenever I play a video game, I always go crawling back to Halo 3. Never go full retard!

Wow! That was in great detail. What an exelent job Hikaru. you are #1!

ironmanhunter id say that theres no help to being screenlooked except getting a separate tv and xbox then connecting them. you can still snipe tho even if they know ur aiming at them, shouldnt stop you

A Needler is deadly when you're close behind them. You can maintain a lock on them and the needles won;t need forever to reach the target. I;m not talking assassination close, but as you're closing in melee.

dude to take out a ghost you can shoot a rocket in front ,drop a grenade or just simply shoot the rider. If you are playing halo 2 then look for a cylidnder on one side of the ghost and it is one hit K.O. also just fricken STICK THEM WITH A PLASMA!!!!!!!!! that solves everything. also you can just bomb them with a banshee bomb or shoot infront of them with a tank or wraith that will flip them and render them useless.

Actually this tactic works quite well.
You CAN camp and snipe. Heres how. If you camp you want to be by ammo but camping eventually results in opponents finding you. Simple solution: keep a ghost by you. Then change places. Tip: try to keep the ghost out of sight. Warthogs work too.
Higher ground is safe depending on your color. A good sniping tactic is to snipe people from behind so they can see your shots.

If you want to camp &snipe then there are some good places in Death Island. Teleport above your base and block the enemy teleport with a Ghost or Banshee (this only works if vehicles never respawn). Then stand close to the enemy Banshee platform, from here you should be able to see half the enemy base and not the teleport.P.S:This tactic works best if you is invisible.Alsotry to get under the enemy base, if you survive the jorney you can pick off other SPARTANS like fish in a barrel.Once i took about ten down in about two minutes.

I think that is a good way of putting things the part about no camping depends. If you are in a cheat spot that is hard to get to and has alot of cover and you can see everybody and everything stay there unless you see somebody has noticed. because if they notice you need to run hide and move in a slow way as he said.

I honestly believe a more "n00bish" approach would help those who haven't really gotten the hang of Halo: Combat Evolved... The famous "Blood Gulch" Arena, was a good area of practice for me when I started. Now I'm sniping heads like no ones business, Of course, When Halo II came out, It was alot harder to snipe, cause the sniper's crosshairs were alot more sensitive, Halo 1 had alot more steady aim, and better accuracy. That's just my opinion.. Whatever. Haha.

Hikaru,

As numerous others have stated before, a most impressive guide, and an unbelievable time span for one thread to have "lived" through. However, I will also agree that the tactics discussed are more geared toward campaign play vice online...this is not to say that they don't work in online play, but it is to say that these tactics are much harder to pull off given Actual Intelligence vs Artificial. Truthfully I'm more apt to grab a BR/Shotty/Mauler combo before anything else, but this thread really did bring back, the seemingly impossible, true meaning to the word sniper. Again, it's difficult to do, but stealth is by far the epitomy of sniping and unfortunately something that 90% of the players in any (H1-H3) online Halo match aren't comfortable with doing...thus they wield flamethrowers at posts such as these. I say unfortunately because I believe it is due to that majority that acts as almost "peer pressure" when playing, and eventually forces us into a style that is, for the lack of a better term, "A-typical". But to bring this archive of a thread up to speed, H3 has proven to be extremely versatile and although the "ground and pound" method is still the prefered by many...it has opened many new doors to true snipers. I look forward to testing my some-what lethargic sniping skills in H3, especially after reading this guide. To all others that have a negative opinion to this guide, perhaps this isn't your playstyle, or maybe you lack the practice and experience to understand what it is saying...but either way; this is a guide for sniping as a sniper and if your style is different, then perhaps you may want to take your ideas and create your own guide to stand the test of time as this one has.
