Right now I am trying to up my sniping game by raising my sensitivty. I am up to 7 and hoping to be a death dealing machine soon by slaughtering fools at lightning speed. And also high sensitivty will help in Halo 2.

I recommend maxing it to 10 and playing through the campaign at that setting for about 2 weeks (multiplayer too if wanted) and then lowering it down to 7. You'll have much more control of your aim afterwards

Hey, Hikaru, that is a crazy coincedence that you chose 119 for the numbers in your name... One, 11/9 is my birthday, and two, that is the day H2 comes out. I think you are some sort of wild fortune teller who can see the future and/or stalking me.

Another "Trick" thats been there for a while is if your moving and your enemy is moving autoaim takes place. the cross hair sways with the person. If you are sniping and aren't seen, try walking back and forth and then take your shot or 2. I know you people dont like these little tricks to be posted, but i believe it does help with sniping.

That only happens on single and it only works on a lower difficulty such as Easy or Normal and that won't help you get any better.

Wrong.

That is what Hikaro 119 told me. I could be wrong on the difficulty stuff though.

Thx I have been doing fine with it but that will probably help more. Also I cant wait for Halo 2 because it will have alot bigger maps and much more snipers spots. Wheras Halo 1 everything was wide open and not much cover and only three maps really suited actual sniping.

Actually, there is a very very subtle auto-aim like mechanism; if you scim over a field and have an enemy pass through the crosshairs, there is a slight slower movement over the enemy until it passes your crosshair. Also, while an enemies moving, the crosshair does follow the enemy, though very slightly and only when the crosshair is red too. So its not really an auto-aim, moreso like an auto-tracking feature

First, great job Hikaru. Second, you missed some spots. Like, leading. Leading can be invaluable to a sniper who's target is in a vehicle. With uncalcuable worth in CTF. Leading is where you determine where your target is going to be, then you shoot that spot BEFORE he reaches the spot. It is a mix of distance, his speed, his direction, and of course, where he currently is.

On the other hand, for those rookies out there that still think that frags are better than plasma grenades. Here is a guide that I have been planning to post before this topic came around.

<Halo: Combat Evolved: The Idiot's Guide to Plasma Grenades>

PART 1

Frags VS. Plasma Grenades

Yes, I aknowledge (is that how you spell it?) that frags have quite a few uses, but the thing is, plasma's have more. Not to mention that it's more entertaining to listen to someone who thought that they have you cold and just had a big old blue thing attatch to his face, obstructing his view, and got killed instead of killing. You'll get literaly millions of different responses to that and the other hilarious ways of killing someone with plasma grenades, than just the same old: "What the -blam!-!?" when they get bown up unexpectedly. Their plentifulness and fun of attatching them to grunts carries over to multiplayer, while frags are limited and aren't that fun in single player.

I'm NOT going Down, But You Are!

One of the most hilarious ways I utilize plasma grenades is that when some dumbass with a shotgun tries to sneak up on me while I'm sniping, I pretend I don't notice him. Then, when he gets within 10 feet of me(an estimate) I turn around and stick a plasma grenade and use my ghost to escape. They never see it coming. Very funny too.

If I'm going down, I'm Taking You With Me!!!!

When I get into a close range firefight, and I see that I'm gonna die, I always stick a plasma grenade to him. One of the best, most effective, and very annoying Anti-Son-Of-A-BlTCH tactics I use, once mastered, will take your kill-to-death ratings pretty high. Because, when you throw the grenade at the right time, it will kill the other guy before he kills you. But, it's very hilarious when you do die, and then the grenade explodes. He usually hits me in the arm and calls me a "damn mother -blam!-er", very entertaining. Master this, and you will not feel you wasted your time.

Sniping with Grenades

This is why I put this in Hikaru's Sniping guide. When you are aiming at a close target that doesn't know you are there, zoom in and fix on a stationary position. Then, fix your aim so that it's so that when you throw your grenade, it'll hit him. A hard to master tactic, it's basically leading a stationary target, with a few modifications. It's a very good way to conserve valuable sniper rounds. It's a mix of his position, your distance, and your ability to throw the grenade. I recomend that for practice, you use... (*gasp* yes ladies and gentlemen, a use for FRAGS in a plasma grenade guide) frag grenades. It's harder to see if it misses him, and a shorter fuse so there's less time for him to run away if he spots it.

Well, that concludes PART 1 of Vasheeth's Plasma Grenade Guide. Next time, it might be in a new thread, depending whether or not it has something to do with sniping. Goodnight.

I've done the same thing, but it was 8 that I was at and 8 that I went to after I got used to 10. Very useful.

very good report Hikaru i might say. though i really need help on my pistol sniping..i cant for jack get any head shots from farther than 300 meters.or from teleport to teleport exit in blood gultch. and i have a question....is it better accurate to zoom in the pistol for ling distances or just shoot from regular sight. because i always see my shooting rectile red, but my enemy's shield never glows which means im not hitting him at all

Well, after reading this guide, and all the post after, i have come to one conclusion:

Mr. Hikaru and I need to get together, and we'll determine who has the better tactics.

AIM me at TheDarkOne123321, and we'll set this thing up

Pistol sniping? PISTOL SNIPING! You can't really snipe with a pistol as to the fact that it is a pistol. You can sharpshhot though.

Eventually I will get into sharpshooting, so you'll have to wait on that one. Sorry. My next guide should be out by the end of the week.

I'd just like to make a comment on taking out warthogs. if the warthog is facing perpendicular to you, go for the driver and for the head. ESPECIALLY if the driver is just getting in, that little animation freezes the warthog for several seconds, after two swift shots to the driver, immediately move to the next target as they will be standing still too, move your aimer along the top half of the warthog for the quickest trail to the gunners head, which is almost always exposed, and under this flat footed state its practically a guaranteed two kills.

This guide will be much more useful when Halo 2 comes out let me explain. In Return to Castle Wolfenstein it was a sniper's paradise yet only skilled and imagnitive snipers would suceed in those ruin strewed maps. Whereas in Halo 1 most of the levels were sterile and open with very little cover. Take for example Blood Gultch, you could see from one side of the map to another. There were only a few ridges and a rock or two for sniping purposes and really suited the unconventinal sniper the freak shot who really didn't snipe but just sharp shooted. Overall this was mainly the time or lack thereof in designing Halo 1 and with Halo 2 the maps are huge and filled with great spots and will suit a Sniper much more easily that's why the changed the sniper rifle to kick to balance it out or EVERYONE would snipe thus defeating the purpose and making sure that only the "L33T" would snipe.

What the pistol doesnt reach that far from one exit to the other and it only makes it across roughly 1/3 of the map on blood gulch
