I didn't read it all, but I heard a lot of stuff at the beginning about how do you get rid of a tank. All you have to do is aim at where their head pokes out and take a shot at it. I love snipering and glad there is a guide like this here. Thanks Hikaru 119!

Well i think i have another spot for aotcr but a bit closer first get the camo skip the hunters go for a banshe and go to the pyramid were the gun turrets are jump on the one to the far left and jump on the nose of the turret the enemy is now a MOVING TARGET because they now can see you they cant shoot you but its alot harder than the platform above so whn you advance from that move to this spot. It helped me and i hope it helps you to.

-Happy Hunting-

to take out warthogs i just use instincts if u see a warthog drivings place your sniper rifle so the scope is lever with the driver and then leave the scop on infront of the warthog and wait for the hog to drive by the scope and fir just as the drivers is in the scope.

im an expert warthog driver and its easy to dodge sniper shots if u make every turn sharp, u got to watch the road ur going to drive on tho espeicailly the ice obn sidewinder if u dont go on the ice uve got a 50% better chance of not getting sniped. also watch the huills on blood gulch follow the path way on blood gulch unless it leads u close to the sniper then u must rick the openess of the hills. also a good way to not get hit is if ur taking lots of fire let the warthog go out of control it lowers the chance of the sniper getting a head shot or even hitting you. also if your going off a sump in a wart hog hold a for break and just as u hit the ground press backwards to put it in reverse, this takes away alot of the shock from big landings, also if u go off a jummp press forward on the left thumbstick and press right or left on the right thumbstick to do a barrel roll in mid air this makes it VERY hard for snipers. and when in doubt doughnut out, if im about to get owned i slam on forward on the left thumb stick and right or left on the right thumbsitck while on flat ground to preform a doughnut.

U know there are other ways to kill a person driving a warthog if ure a good sniper then id suggest this: get right in front of the warthog though a lil on the side so the head is sticking out. AND SNIPE THAT PIECE OF THE HEAD BEFORE U GET RAN OVER!!!!!

First off, I apologize if I say something that has already been said (I didn’t read all 8 pages of posts). That was a pretty good guide; nice of you to take time to share your knowledge with others.

For me at least, the best way to snipe a warthog is from the side. It’s easiest when it’s going fairly straight and level and the trick is to know how much to lead it. It would probably be good to experiment a little to find out just how much to lead it. It’s almost impossible to snipe it from the front or back unless you have some height.

I rarely play with tanks, but when I do snipers are the best way to take them out. The driver of the tank is extreamly exposed and they usually aren’t going too fast. The only way you can’t hit them is from the back (so if you’re ever in a tank sometimes it’s good to face the tank away from the enemy and turn the turret around backwards, it works especially good on the hill behind Red Base at BG). When you’re sniping a tank, just be sure that you get them on your first or second shot because they can find you really easily after that.

I don’t play with the motion tracker anymore but when I did, it was a pro rather than a con in regards to snipers. Since it has fairly short range it usually isn’t a problem for long distance sniping, but it will let you know if someone is trying to sneak up on you. If you see someone on it, as long as you stay still you won’t show up on theirs (it tracks motion [hence the name]). Sorry, I’m sure most people already know most of this.

The very best way to get better at Halo is to play with people better than you. For a while I thought I was good, but then I played system-link and found that I could get so much better. Then later I thought I couldn’t get any better, but then I played in a tournement and got stomped. There’s always room for improvement (although there’s not much time left for Halo 1). Ok, I’m just rambling now so I’ll shut up.

While I have not read all 8 pages (Stopped about page 4) one thing I have not seen any one talk about, or at least in detail, is actual sniper spots. First off, NEVER go for the obvious spots (Cliffs, Exposed Ledges, etc.). While this may work against a pack of Grunts, they are the first place a person/counter-sniper looks. Try to find new and creative places, for example, if you take the Tank and place it on the crest of a hill there is a small gap under the tank. Now just have some one in the tank keeping the enemies head down while you mop up the rest. This is not the only place to hide. Sometimes just sitting somewhere along a wall or corner helps.

Also, use your armor. If you are on BG, what is the primary color? Red. So does it not make a lot of sense to use red or similar armor??

And remember, I know it has been said before but remember; Sniping was originally a hunting term. Be patient, wait for the prefect shot and always remember, "One shot, one kill"

I have to disagree about the camping. What's everyone's problem with a camper? In reality do you think a sniper would be moving from place to place when he got to a really good sniper position? No, he'd stay in that area and snipe the enemy until he was found. Camping is a MUST for a good sniper, specially if you want a certin area covered. What the hell is everyone's problem with campers, they aren't cowards, they're SMART! People, if you normaly camp yet everyone complaines because you can kill them a lot and says Stop Camping say F you, I'll camp as much as I damn well please!

I'm inclined to agree with The Elite_elite on this subject. It would be best camp. UNLESS someone finally figures u out. Make sure u have an escape plan. And always be alert. After a kill make sure and scout the others to make sure no one is sneaking around u.

I disagree about the camping thing. I think that campers are not too intelligent. Lets see.....I just got sniped from...there! *sneaks to spot with pistol/sniper ready* ~*BANG!!!!*~ You lose! If the sniper didnt leave a trail, you'd be ok. But guess what!?!?!? It leaves a trail. Its too easy to find a camper.

On the post a few spots up. somebody said dont snipe from obvious spots. I disagree there as well. (depending on the enemy) Seasoned players tend to ignore these spots because they knew them and so did everybody else and now it is not a good spot to snipe from. I have noticed latey a lot of people not looking to these spots for snipers. I am not saying run into a match and straight to these spots. I am saying watch the team and if they ignore the spot, take advantage of it. Also, snipe where you are comfortable. Dont go to a spot just because someone else was there. You need to like your position. Sorry to cut this short but I must go due to the storm heading my way. Happy sniping to you all! {:()

I have to both agree and disagree with TrUnK mUnKeY. While yes, a "seasoned" player might over look these spots, and yes it does depend on who you are playing with, a good sniper will look at all of the possible counter sniper spots, starting with the ones he/she knows will be most likely taken. Not trying to burn you, but just try to see it as if you are a sniper, where do you think your enemy might be hiding? Are you going to take the chance that a ledge you overlooked because it is such an obvious sniper spot, doesn't have a sniper???

I would hope not, so my tip was, don't hide where people are going to be looking for you.

Yes my friend you are a good sniper all of these are good tactics but sooner or later you will get counter sniped unless you've got god like reactions and a very sharp eye you'll eventually die. Remeber to shoot and move never stay in the same spot twice remeber in halo your sniper rifle has a vapor trail and it leads you to the spot that you're at and always have another man on your team with you when you move he covers you and when he moves you cover him always work in america's army.

From my personal experience, I suggest learning 3 things.

1) How to snipe accurately while moving.
2) How to follow vapor trails when shot and count off until they're out of ammo. Then tag 'em while they're reloading.
3) 1 shot kills. (Yes, even if they're in a tank!)

Last night I was playing Halo with my system link..I joined a 4v4 game with my buddy in sidewinder...I decided to put those sniping tips to use. I flotted around where the enrgy shield is in the middle of the level on the ground and ended up with 31 kills at the end of the match...
Very good tips !

Like I said...it depends on who you are playing. Get a feel for the other team then get comortable with what actions you are going to take. When at all possible, have a game plan.

You people who think Hikaru is stupid obviously don't know him well. He's the person on HBO that counted every single dropship and marine objects ect in Halo. And I bet that him I could take on all of you idiots that don't like him.

And an update on his new guide. He hasn't been online for quite a while and we usually talk a lot. So I don't know what he's doing. I have been giving him more tactics for his new guide and he has been taking them last I heard he said he was gathering the info and grouping it up.

You're on. My partner and I vs. you and Hikaru 2v2 TS your host. You lose by 20, guaran-damn-teed.
