Thats Right I Was Banned For Watching The Webcams Too Much!Combat Arms - X647"He who'd walk a mile just to hold an empty hand, knows what it means to be a wealthy man."
Skin This Place Alive...

A lot of the time, the first and only warning is in the Thread rules and information.
Like the recon stuff.

Also, a lot of 3 day bans....ARE the warning.

"But you were dead a thousand times. Hopeless encounters successfully won. A man long dead, grafted to machines your builders did not understand. You follow the path, fitting into an infinite pattern. Your to manipulate, destroy and rebuild. Now, in the quantum moment before closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny."

Seriously? That would be sort of helpful for group administrators looking to not instantly ban everyone the instant they do something wrong. You get my point?

As i understand it the warning system is there to allow mods to see whether the user has been a problem in the past (as well as to provide a slap on the wrist that isnt a ban). Presumably, all but one or two groups have no need for this as their member base is small, well known to each other and the moderation is done by 1-2 people. It's unneccesary, really. If you need to give someone a warning, simply give them a verbal slap around the chops.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

I'm failing to understand what you want. Do you want a warning system against mods and admins of groups, or something they can use?

In both cases, I say no. Mods aren't too susceptible to this stuff, and group participation isn't mandatory.

In the latter case, moderators have a warning feature (I've been warned formally before, I know.) As for administrators of groups, the PM feature is sufficient. Beyond that, custom security positions featuring reduced abilities can serve as more...effective warning systems.

Generally you're more tight-knit in groups, and even if you do have a large amount of members, it shouldn't be an issue to PM the person and tell them they're acting up and to cut it out. And if that doesn't work, just temp ban them.
I see adding a warn feature a waste of time on the web team's behalf.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I don't want a warning feature in groups. I think it should be reserved for the main forums. I think that if users had warning systems in groups, they'd get too accustomed to warnings in general, and pay less attention to warnings on the main forums. People ban each other in groups all the time for fun, so I'm sure that they would warn each other constantly. If they saw a PM from The Soul in their inbox everyday from groups, they'd be more inclined to ignore warnings from the mods in the public forums, and harsher punishment would only be the result. People have to be able to see and discern warnings on the main forums, or there is no point in having warnings at all.

Groups are much smaller than the public forums, and usually are much less active. You guys should be able to keep up with all that's going on in them without a warning system, while the mods on the public forums can not. If a user is causing problems, send them a PM or simply ban them. That's all anyone really needs when it comes to enforcing groups rules. Leave the warnings to the public forums, where we need their extra pull and weight.

Very good point. I must sy I agree with you. Warning in groups in largely pointless.
