MonoxideC, creator of HMT (Halo Map Tools) is 'fed up with people flaming and -blam!-ing at him for not ''sharing his work''' so he is going to stop sharing altogether now. He will only give mods out to his friends now. So I guess we basically screwed ourselves over. If none of you here knew him (I did not either) we really wont know whats going on. But this also means that one of the greatest Halo modders has left. This is a sad day for the Halo community...

MonoxideC, you will be missed. Farewell...

Former, CSG, Contract Environment Artist for Bungie Studios

I hadn't heard that he left. Just today, he was on the Gearbox forums talking about the newest version. Plus, he PMed me wanting to know if I needed help with my New Mombasa map.

He's not really 'leaving', he's just not going to share anymore. So in a way he's leaving...

No, he's not great. He's talented, but that's it. A great person does what they are good at, reguardless of the conditions, that's what makes them great. By continuing to mod, but releasing it to only a select few, he loses his "Great" reputation. Why? Because there is no greatness in having talent, the greatness is in sharing the talent.

Well if anyone here actually knew the process he had to go through in order to get all the mods and versions of HMT he has SHARED with EVERYONE, then you would understand why he is taking a break. Along with a small group of really smart people Mono has forever changed Halo PC. Say thank you, take you FREE HMT 3.5 and mod away. Now you have the tools to do everything he has ever created. So where is there any issue about being selfish. Too bad not everyone reads his post. Evreything he does is to be released to the public in due time, (when it is functioning properly). If he released stuff when the masses nagged him to, then you'de have more questions than answers due to bugs and complexity isues that newb modders can't address. At least thats my opinion... :D
Viva la Halo!
