I just got a vista about 2 weeks ago. Will a nvidia geforce 8600 with 256 mb of memory, 2gb of ram, direct x 9.0c, and intel core duo 2 e4500 with two 2.20 ghz run halo 2 well?

You'll achieve 1024x768 High Details and 4xAA fact. Dont kow about higher resolutions

  • 11.21.2007 2:29 PM PDT

I think thats good enough! But still don't know if it will be high resolution though...... I'm gonnaget mine early January...

If a system with a GeForce 6100 with128MB of VRAM and 512MB of system RAM and a single core processor is all thats required to run the game, then a system with a GeForce 8500 with 256MB of VRAM, 2 gigs of system RAM and a dual core processor is gonna run the game like a dream.
Man, I'm jealous of your system :)

Is core duo2 e4500 a good processor? There are dual core e6800s now. But e4500 is only a little less than a year old, what my pc says....

I don't know much about Intel processors (yep, I'm an AMD boy), but it is dual core, so that means you are looking into the 3 to 4 GHz range if you combine the clock speed of both processors.

So my processor is 3-4Ghz? My pc says intel e4500 core duo 2 @ 2.20Ghz and another 2.20 next to the GHz one. A person on the phone at dell said this is 2 dual cores.

Like I said, I don't fully understand the rating system intel uses for their processors, but if its a e4500 then I think it's 4.5 GHz combined speed.
Did that just make sense? cos' I'm not sure.

Anyway, it will run Halo 2 Vista fine.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

If it is like the AMD chips, then I believe the 4500 means it runs like a single core processor at 4.5Ghz.

Also, the core 2 Duo is not two dual core chips. It's one dual core chip.

e4500 doesn't mean 4.5Ghz. If it did that means for $150 extra i could have gotten a 6800 with 6.8GHz. I think its just two cores at 2.2Ghz each....

I went to intel.com. Said e4500 is just a 2.20GHz processor with an extra 800 MHz (guess thats 3 GHz) and says it goes 40% faster.

No. It has the PERFORMANCE of a 4.5Ghz single core chip. Not the actual running speed of 4.5Ghz.

The best way is to run your system performence check. If the overall rating is below a 3 you will have problems according to Halo2 for Vistas requirements.
I have already played it through on normal on my Acer Aspire t180 with Vista Premeium on an AMD Athlon64x2 4000+ (single core rating 2.54 Ghz actual rating is 6 Ghz.) With a Geforce8600 4 gigs Ram. By the way when Vista rates the sytem it doen't rate the second core on an AMD unless you turn it on in the settings or use a program like System Tweaker.

  • 11.28.2007 5:28 PM PDT

First step: HAVE WINDOWS VISTA!!!!
Then right click Computer and go to Properties. Its seilf-explanatory from there.

You have Direct X 10. DXdiag shows the latest Direct X, and I don't think its even possible to run 2 differnet Direct X versions at the same time, because each new version is backwards xompatible (can run DX 9 games if you have DX 10)

No glitches? So if I have a kickass system, that means I can't BXR? Screw that.

Damn.

He asked me if there would be any "glitches"
It's actually the first time I've heard someone say that instead of "the game -blam-ing up.

I was simply putting it in basic terms so his n00b mind doesn't melt.

(no offence madkiller92) :)

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

It's another add to Vista. I can see you haven't updated, yet.
