Hi all,

To all those ppl who, like me, play jumpy or boxer, or whatever, how do you feel about losing your left trigger out to secondary fire. I realise using the left and right triggers for shooting weapons from the left and right hands respectively makes the most sense. However, I have played too long and too hard using left trigger to jump and want to keep it that way. I hope we can fully customize button config. Any word on this?
Why on earth would this info be kept confidential?!!!??!

Furthermore, was there no one who played Halo2 at E3 who uses control settings other than default? By the looks of things players had to use default settings does anyone know if this is true?

No news on the sprint function, I wonder about it. But, when I use boxer as well in H2, it won't bother me when I lose the melee button. You can't melee with 2 weapons. But, when you want to jump, and since A was to jump on default, maybe A for 2 weapons, L for 1 weapon. Boxer is a great setting. I fire one pistol shot to the head, melee, and then shoot one more time. It kills them instantly for me, especially aiming for the head.

boxer. its the only setting i can play with. if not, i inadvertantly toss grenades and get pissed off. plus, its all about the pumpy shot-melee and the quick AR burst to smack in the face. works every time.

oh, and about the inverted settings - you would have to be retarded not to have inverted aim as an option in an FPS.

What's wrong with not using inverted? I use normal all the time. I find inverted counter-intuitive. The only thing can stand inverted is flying, because that makes sense, because its how you actually fly (I still don't use inverted for flight on Halo though).

The only optional setting I use control wise is Auto-Center, because it makes sniping more realistic because when you move, it starts to drift back to center.

He's not saying that there is something wrong with using normal hes just saying that it would be retarded to not have the option.

That happened to me, but I stuck with it and eventually got used to it. Boxer just feels more natural.

I want the weapon charging should have a separate button (speaking from a computer-playing perspective), as I have problems getting the Plasma pistol to fire quickly and not charge up.

heh, about having to be retarded not to include inverted in a FPS, look at Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3. COuldn't stand the game for mor ethan 10 minutes because it had no inverted. Bad move on that game...

I think RS3 has inverted, you have to go to settings or something. I have it. Maybe you can't find it.

I seriously, seriously doubt Bungie would leave out the kind of control settings already included in Halo. Although I play default inverted controls (I find myself using grenades while moving or turning alot more than needing to be able to turn and melee at one time), I know plenty of people who play with Boxer. I'm fairly certain you won't actually lose your melee trigger to firing a second weapon, it'll just change around with whatever setting you choose.

I'm really hoping for fully customizable controls. That way no one will feel like they don't like the controls. Left-handers got screwed in Halo 1 unless they switched to default or one of the other set-ups (see my sig).

My friend Tim didn't know what he was doing when he got the game and he changed his settings to legacy, he got used to it and has to play like that all the time now.

In an OXM (uk) poll 62 percent used invert as default, something to think about. I always thought everyone used normal

That statistic doesnt surprise me.
I used to play default when i first started but since i switched to Boxer i have never looked back -feels better to me. Alot of my friends use different movement settings like legacy & southpaw which feels totally weird to me but works well for them. The thing to remember is everyone is different. I hope halo2 will have a fully optional controller mapping.

I play with 6 guys (1 girl -who is a top player) very regularly and we all use settings other than default. Be it different button settings like boxer and jumpy etc or controller settings (southpaw is a fav). It is very important to us that options to keep playing this way are avalable. It would be a damn shame to have waited this long in anticipation of this game only to discover that the controlls are stuffed. Dont get me wrong, it will probably suit most people but there are heaps of players like us to remember too.

Fully customizable is the only way!! + toggle crouch -a must!

I hope that the controler scheme changes depending on what you are doing. I also use boxer. If I start dual weilding I want my controler scheme to switch back to default. Or if I get into the tank I hate that I cannot use the machine gun because it is on the B button.

Maybe Bugie will let us have several controler schemes depending on what we are doing. Mainly for vehicles and dual weilding.

I use inverted and boxer. The only reason I do use inverted is because of the thumbsticks really. On a mouse or any other button it'd be normal, but I'm too used to an inverted 'stick'
the boxer part because I usually need to move and aim around if I'm going to smack someone rather than toss a grenade far off. Actually, I barely even use grenades in MP anyway

I'm a boxer, former default, player. the only complaint I have about it is that I think it would be nice to be able to have an option in the control scheme to have vehicle weapons which usually use B, use left trigger like default does. I just punch more than throw grenades, not do nothing more than fire a secondary weapon. but I do also like the idea of full customization, especially if you can customize vehiclular controls

why dont you use your index finger to press the B,A,X and Y buttons? it works and still lets me look and shoot (when im not punching or reloading, ect).
