FYI - I wrote this all before I knew there was going to be a Halo:CE released on XBL marketplace, but I spent so much time on this post I couldn't bare changing it.
The current rumor is that it is not going to be released with multiplayer so I would like to refer you to this link:Would you Buy halo:CE if it didn't have XBL poll. If we could get an official post in here about the likeliness of XBL multiplayer support, well that would just be fantastic. And I look forward till that day but till then Speculation it is!
-The proof is in the pudding or I guess CVG in this case

The Fall Xbox 360 dashboard update has been revealed to our colleagues at OXM from Microsoft and it's looking very good indeed with gaming classics and films on demand.
December 4 is the date you'll need to watch out for; that's the day you'll be able to download and play Halo. Yes, Halo as in the Xbox game, through Marketplace, on your Xbox 360.
Microsoft is introducing games it has published for the original Xbox on XBL Marketplace, with the eventual plan to bring as much of the back catalogue across as possible.
Games cost about 1200 Microsoft points (about ten quid), which according to us puts them a little over what you'd pay for them second hand.
The initial list of downloads includes Halo, Fable, Fahrenheit, Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex and Burnout 3. All good then, apart from maybe Crash.
And if that wasn't enough, films on demand, though not confirmed for the December 4 date, aren't far away. Studios such as Warner Bros are potentially lined up for the service, so we can look forward to films such as The Dark Knight, The Assassination of Jesse James and I Am Legend appearing eventually.
Films will cost less than a fiver and come in 720p resolution. You have 14 days to start watching a film once it has downloaded. Once you started watching a film, you have 24 hours to finish it. After that, the film deletes itself from your hard drive. It's basically an online rental service then, like the US Video Marketplace.
What do these new additions mean for the future of Xbox Live Arcade? Does the PS3's PSOne download service now look horribly dated? It's going to be an exciting 2008 in the download space, for sure.

~But this is my /Love Halo:CE Rant and please feel free to agree or disagree with whatever you see fit. I'd just like to say that Halo:CE re-released without multiplayer, would probably Crush my poor little heart. <3 Any way enjoy reading and I thank you for checking it out!
I have been a loyal fan of Bungie since Marathon, and was absolutely enthralled by Halo:CE. I honestly think it is the greatest game in the world hands down, at least for the multiplayer aspect. To be completely honest I never really enjoyed playing the single player, it had a good story line and the plot development was there but I've just never been a fan of single player. But the multiplayer of Halo 1 was unbeatable, so fun to me that I had 4 xbox's, 4 halo's, 4 75' Ethernet cables, and 1 router in my car at all time. I was a driving LAN center all I needed were TV's and we were good to go.
Halo:CE is in my eyes the best game I have ever laid hands on better then Halo 2, better then Halo 3, Unreal Tournament, the Quake series, Half-Life mods, EVERYTHING. It was just such a fantastic game. It took everything that I loved in a FPS and put it in to a bundle for me. It had a consistent main weapon (pistol) that relied on aiming timing and consistency. The fact that it took skill to 3 shot someone; after 3+ years of playing the Halo series I still can't 3 shot consistently, and trust me I don't suck. The power ups that worked as intended (Halo 2's cloak looked like a orange workers vest). And the subtle tricks and glitches to make them work better i.e. Quick cloak, Double X-reload, Double Melee. An Overshield that lasted 12 pistol shots appose to the normal 3. I thought it weird how in Halo 3 a shotgun shot will -blam!- your Overshield quickly and in Halo 2 (or as I like to call it dawn of the plasma pistol) overshield was a joke. My absolute favorite part was the bullet physics, the concept of shooting an enemy across the map with any ranged weapon, but not simply aiming at them and pulling the trigger and watching them fall, but to predict there movement and snipe according to distance and the speed they are moving away or parallel to you. When Halo 2 came out and didn't have that I almost cried. The maps were built better (in my opinion) having to choose cover wisely as you ninja your way from Red side on hang um' high to Blue. Being able to John Elway grenades to wherever need be on the map. Hmmmm... I'm just remembering the good ol' days of Halo:CE on Xbox connect prior to the 9th of November in 04, 50-100 hosts every day, playing non-stop 2's on team slayer, play every map like 8 times before I went to bed for school only to wake up the next day with out my homework done lol.
Any way I could go on for days listing more differences. but thats not what I'm here to say. I don't mean to say that the other Halo's weren't good games but in my eyes they will never be as great as Halo:CE was and still is. The problem that I have is that the new Halo's absolutely raped and devastated Halo:CE. Now XBC, X lin kai, Gamespy or any other tunnel program are completely void of Halo:CE games. Today my friend and I got on to play a couple games of Halo 3, and after about an hour of running around with our water guns (AR) we decided to take a step back in time. We went and logged on to XBC to see a sad sight of only 10 hosts up. All of which where on unplayable pings (when playing Halo:CE on a tunnel program the higher the ping the further you have to lead your target for instance 60-100 ping is about 1/4th to 1/2 of a centimeter in front of the actual player so 150+ ping is damn near impossible).
I'm curious to know if there is a plan to make a newer better Halo 1 with upgraded graphics for Xbox 360? I know that the Halo:CE disc does work on Xbox 360, but it still doesn't have XBL and with out a centralized location for gamers to find one another; that lack of a community is still going to be there. Please don't let this amazing game slip in to the history books unsung. give it one final breath of hope is all I ask, give it XBL so it can live like halo 2 is with its predecessor halo 3 out. I for one would fund this project myself if I wasn't just another starry eyed starving college student. But trust me I would pay out the ass for just a chance to play Halo:CE on XBL as I believe every TRUE HALO PLAYER would.
Also is there a way that this post can be forwarded to the Bungie Corp. instead of just the web master. If so please do forward this to them. Or send me that E-mail address I'd love for this fantasy to turn in to a reality.
- Thanx for reading <3
