Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

Suicide and Betrayal medals are an interesting idea. It'd be a nice way to see who not to trust at a glance.

um the suicide and betrayal thing is good but not the badge for it. It wouldn't make them ashamed it would make them laugh there ass off and you know it.

You're probably right.

Perhaps, then, some sort of visible counter tucked into the performance-related areas.

I have worn the betrayal badge of shame many times, sat quietly afterward and thought about what I had done.

As I was looking through previous games, I noticed that in the kills breakdown for HALO3, it doesn't show who betrayed who and it doesn't show the betrayal on the map. I really think that betrayals and suicides should be included. It is a legitimate form of death and it would definitely be interesting to see who from my own team has killed me, and how many times.

And as an aside, I think that there should be a medal for betrayals and one for suicides. Its certainly not honorable, but I think people would be proud or perhaps ashamed to accumulate medals such as those.

So, some positive feedback. does that mean we'll be seeing these integrated into the "Carnage breakdown" in the near future?

It would be rather funny to have people's rank insignia's affected in some way by all the betrayals and suicides, like if there is a significant amount, say an average of 2 per game, then we should know about it. so in the load screen on multiplayer we can all remark on this fool and try to betray him the whole game. That is if we all care that little about the match, and more concerned with shaming the fool.

I don't like the idea of being able to "collect" betrayal medals, because... well that just gives people reason to betray.

In other news, the DS9 episode with Thomas Riker was so silly. Like, he takes off his sideburns and AAAH, DIFFERENT PERSON.

The people who would TRY to accumulate betrayals are going to do it anyways. Therefore, attempt not to play with said idiot.

I love the idea. No flaws to my eye. Maybe hard to implement? I really don't know much about how the technical end of the medals system works, other than the flexibility of the Medals Chest on bungie.net

Then I return to my original request. No medals, No Insignia stained with one's own blood. Simply include the betrayals in the "POST GAME CARNAGE REPORT" in the Field Stats section, where people from your own team show up when you hover over the cells in the MOST KILLED and MOST KILLED BY - showing the Total kills for the game AND show the betrayal on the GAME VIEWER maps. I would like to know who from my own team keeps killing me and from where.

(i will not make any plea for a suicide counter, because that would be tougher to argue. I can certainly understand that there are many among you who do not consider the suicide a legitimate, or honorable, form of death. Eventhough I see a lot of honor in blowing myself up and half the enemy team with a carefully placed rocket).

This is not hard to implement, does not encourage anyone to betray, and affects the game in no way. It will help you to know who from your clan has a propensity to carelessly toss a plasma grenade into the battlefield, or rocket anyone and everyone. Plus, for the rockets gametype, where betrayals are very common, everyone can have a good laugh.

The Goatee is a symbol of evil. for some reason. If you remember that episode of TOS where they encounter Alternate Universe Spock - Evil Spock - (the episode is called Mirror Mirror) he was sporting the goatee. I believe it was common practice to distinguish the "bad guy" with this evil facial hair.

I disagree.

If someone is inclined to grief, they have their own motivations. However, to add a system to track, count and reward that griefing, would encourage others to join in and give the reward of knowing "I am a level 42 a-hole".

Makes sense, but I don't know about the "reward" of the griefing. I was under the impression that the medals would mark people NOT to play with. Although it wouldn't help much for matchmaking I suppose, because if some guy is betraying anyways, your likely to mark him as an avoided player.

Agreed. To be honest, I am just a bit surprised that this feature was not originally included, even though I'm sure Bungie had a good reason for it. At the same time, I would like to be able to see how many times I betrayed or was betrayed by my teammates.

So its decided then. We are in agreement that this feature should be integrated into the website. So, you may pass this along to the necessary party so that this may be done.

Thanks in advance Bungie.net Webmasters!
