(who generally make their pizza closer to meatloaf than real Italian food). Want a good place? Try Grimaldi's underneath the Brooklyn bridge (on the Brooklyn side of course).
I have heard good things about Grimaldi's... Never been there though.
I must say, Pizza in America is WAAAAAY better than Pizza in Italy, the Italians don't really eat it much, and it is more like foccacia bread over there, very little topings, very bland.
To be very honset, there really is no such thing as a "authentic" Italian Resturaunt here in the states. The reason being is you cannot get the same kind of vegtables here that you can in italy. Don't get me wrong, there may be one or two places that try very hard, and do get the stuff, But I actually have first hand knowledge on this.
In April 2002, My wife attended a three day cooking class in Tuscany, I got the full review. In the two weeks we were in the coutry, we ate as far south as Posiatano, and as far north as Venice and Milan. i got a good feeling for the varied cooking styles and food accross the country.
