Is there ever one; is it possible for there to ever be one? I'm always having to be the host, in order to play w/o too much lag, and I have friggin' DSL! However, here's the thing: I have a computer I got for free-> It came with a 128MB GeForce4 Ti 4600 video card, 1.15GHz proccessor, 512MB RAM, and an 80Gig HD. Is that any good? I've been playing my games on this computer, and one thing that I've noticed is that, a friend of mine with the same SBC YAHOO! DSL service, has faster speeds, etc, than me. They've only got a slighly faster proccessor (okay, fine, maybe not "slightly"), a 2.6GHz. I've ran test like the Yahoo Speed Tester thingy, to compare, and that's how I found this out. Their upload/download(s) were faster than mine, by, quite a bit. Can a proccessor really make that big of a difference? I know it cannot be their service, because we both pay $26.99 for our internet. So...can anyone help me out, or make any suggestions or anything? Should I update my motherboard/cpu or something?
THANKS!

Ok I am A Lan Admin for Verizon so I know a little about DSL and it all depends on how far away you are from the central office that is supplying your DSL. And that is WIRE MILEAGE not walking distance. The max distance is 18900 feet. For instance you could be 1 mile but have 2 miles of wire between you and the CO all depends on how its wired on the poles. Oh and no there will never be a Lag free server because as soon as someone logs on that has a slow connection LLLLLAAAAAGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Heyyo,

There is servers without lag, you need HaloCE, and the delagginator:

as for HammerJack? that's correct, one of the main reasons for speed differences is distance from a receiver tower. They usually place receiver towers every 2 miles in order to have lots of connections, so consider your bud lucky for being closer to one than you are. Me? I'm hella unlucky, I'm inna pocket... most roads around me can get adsl... and I'm in a freakin' gap... lol....

Processors? that can affect preformance, but not net transfers. So on internet games, obviously the better processor always wins the battle in preformance, but skills dictate the true winner. ;)
