Subject: What constitutes "spam"?

I just got off a 7-day ban for spamming. This was completely unintentional, I wasn't trying to spam. To avoid this again in the future, I want to know specifically what Bungie's mods consider "spam." Can anyone answer this question for me?

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

Spam is basically something that is considered useless. If you wish, post the link to the post you believe you were banned for, then if I can, I will explain to you what constituted as spam.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

Eesh...that's a definition that's looser than the morals of about half of the mods.

Basically, don't make repeat threads. Don't repeat posts in a single thread (or in multiple threads). Don't make useless threads or posts (useless meaning that they contribute nothing to the forum or thread, respectively). Don't repeat the same thing over again in a post (i.e. copying and pasting a phrase so often that it takes up the whole post character limit). Don't make huge posts with no content in them.

I think I've covered about a quarter of what constitutes spam.

If it doesn't serve a purpose or contribute to a discussion, I lock and ban. That's the easy way to do it.

57 times. That's spam. Typing in all caps is considered spam by some, because it is the equivolent of screaming. Also, putting giant walls of text that form a palm on a face, is spam.

And of course don't forget the quote pyramids that take up half the page.

To qualify as spam, it must fit the following acronym. Your post must meet one or more of the following criteria.

Stupid
Pointless
Asinine
Moronic

Whether or not your post meets the above criteria is up to the moderators decide. Try to be on the safe side when posting things.

This is probably the thread you were banned for. None of you are discussing Halo 3 and you're all being generally stupid. Most likely (and hopefully) everyone in that thread received the same punishment.

A 56 gram (approximately 2 ounce) serving of original Spam provides 7 grams of protein, 2 grams of carbohydrates, 15 grams of fat (23% US Daily Value) including 6 grams of saturated fat (28% US Daily Value), and over 170 calories. A serving contains nearly a third of the recommended daily intake of sodium (salt). Spam provides very little in terms of vitamins and minerals (0% vitamin A, 1% vitamin C, 1% calcium, 3% iron). It has been listed as a food that is a poor choice for weight loss (or weight gain) and optimum health and as a food that "is high in saturated fat and sodium"

From wiki.

...

Technically, that could be spam if you were a hard mod that doesn't tolerate much, or it could be a joke.

I see "Spam" as something like, posting one thing over and over in multiple threads (Example: Shishka is a pegboy. Lol)
Posting Multiple topics in different forums with the same content
Going really off-topic and making pointless posts
Caps lock is NOT the cruise control key to coolness.
Making pointless posts like "hai guise wats up" -- Talking like a 2 year old. "r" "u" "wat" "wen" "ur" "i no" Stupid stuff like that.
Using no Grammatical things, such as punctuation and capitalization of I, names, places, countries, and the first word of every sentence.
Excessive "AIDS" and "Chuck Norris" jokes, and/or "Your mom" jokes unless it's actually a good one.
Flaming other people and//or ideas.
"One Liners".
