I'm sorry, I didn't mean to put words in your mouth. I meant to say that what you've been saying supports what I've been saying, not that it's the same.
I was mistaken about the pumas, I misinterpreted your saying that they're the deer's natural predator. I still stand by my point, though. Whatever the natural predators are, they're not doing their job near us because they can't live with us.The deer population in this state is, and always has been controlled by humans, well at least for the last several hundred years.Would that be the last few centuries that we've been here altering things? If you think that the natural state before we were here is one of insane deer population with no predators to take advantage, you might not be in the know, either. This continent has predators.
You've also brought to my attention that the livestock that we introduce also keep natural predators from keeping deer populations down. I'm sorry I overlooked that, too. Just outta curiosity, are deer even supposed to be there? Were they native to your region before crops started attracting them?
Yes this continent is full of predators, we are one. We also have no idea how long we have been here. Humans could have been here for a couple thousand years, I mean the Aztecs were in South America, it's safe to assume that humans could have been here as well. I believe that in this region humans are the natural predator to deer, and always have been. I am not sure if deer are native here, but I do know that Native Americans were hunting them here several hundered, possibly even more than 1000 years ago. You must realize that humans are a predator, and have been since our existance began. We are no different than any other predator in the animal kingdom.
