Subject: What's up with the stereotype of New Mombasa?

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

It's starting to get to me. I mean sure it's not as neat as it is here, but their not all stupid. See, now look at it from their view. Their all new members, just joined and want some nice juicy Halo 2 goodness. They go to New Mombasa, see the way they type and the way they post and start arguments, so they do the same. They don't want to be singled out their first day here, right?

I know that my argument sucks, but I just have this thing against stereotyping.

Its not a stereotype, its more or less the truth. Sadly.

I'll give you that they are not all dumb. Some are just new, but most are new and dumb. That makes for a bad combination. Try going over there and reading the topics. Then try to do so without flaming. It's very hard. Their dumbness is just plain annoying. So no, they're not all stupid, but most of them are.

But what if they don't want to leave. What if they want to post about Halo 2, but without all the flaming and spamming?

The Halo 2 hate/random stupidity has really died down in NM.

While I have posted otherwise, the hypocrite that I am, it really has died down.

That's what I mean. I can totally agree that ity used to be horrible, but it's not like that anymore. That New Mombasa is gone, so shouldn't the stereotype leave with it?

It probably should leave with it, but that is not the way the world works. People don't forget things that easily, some still hold grudges years after the fact, only with time will the stereotype fade away almost completely. But we have constant little reminders of the former chaos that was New Mombasa with the random stupid posts people make both there and here in the Flood. Now I don't know about anybody else but I am not going to be ready to "forgive and forget" very soon. Even though New Mombasa is no longer the mess it was, it still is insane, it's just not as bad as it was so many people are happy with it because it seems like everything is the way ti should be, but it's not. If you compare New Mombasa the way it is now with the way it was over the summer, it looks like chaos right now. Damn it I miss the days when I could have an intelligent conversation in there without being interuppted by an idiot.

I know that not everyone at New Mombasa is dumb, especially because I post there on occasion. It's not even the new peoples' questions that bother me, its all of the gripeing. I know that Halo 2 isn't perfect, but at this point I think I have heard every possible problem that someone might have with that game.

New Mombasa is a forum that most new members of Bungie are attracted to. They join the chaos, and slowly learn about posting etiquette, rules, and how to avoid being a mindless idiot. As time goes on, the doomed morons get bored and abandone the forums, and the previous idiots that have gained experience and maturity, retire from New Mombasa and join other forum discussions. Hopefully, in the next few months we will all be able to return to that forum and treat it as any other forum should be treated, but i'm doubtful

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

There are some intelligent people in NM, and the flaming and spamming has died down, I guess they all went to www.halo2sucks.com. Maybe in a month or so we can have a halfway decent NM, or at the very least maybe it will stop being the worst board on the foum.

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

While NM is getting better, it's still pretty bad. Like Ben said, it's not stereotyping. It's the sad truth. If it wasn't such a total mess, I wouldn't have created FIPA.

Agreed. I have seen more intelligent posts come up in NM, but they still get quickly drowned out by generic moron posts. Same goes with threads.

But, at least it's improving, albeit slowly.
