After the dismal halo3 multiplayer I decided to go back to halo2 and was prompted for an update that sees to have set halo2 way back. so BTB is no longer ranked and is constant slayer matches on crappy maps, the matchmaking is awful and constantly restarts, betraying is gone haywire since I'm getting booted from loads of games for 1 betrayal, somtimes even when I didnt betray! and vice versu when someone didnt betray me their name pops up asking me to boot them.

I'm just wondering are they TRYING to ruin this game online, push us on to the money making scam that is halo3?? that has only 3 maps for BTB and u have to pay $10 to download more. (and only 2 are playable 1 is a forge map which means u can probably never play on it just edit it for no reason)

seeing as halo2 still has on average 10k players per day which is way more than some 360 titles and will probably live way past halo3(which as I look has 66k players online, hahahaha) I think they should continue supporting halo2.

They still are supporting Halo 2. Look under the Search bar and you'll see that it still says how many games/players are online in Halo 2. It's not their fault that people get the option to boot you. Perhaps you've just betrayed too many people.

Im the best of the best and better than the rest....

Look maybe maybe you just need to accept the fact that H2 has had its run for 2 years and people are still playing it for some odd reason. Just start playing H3. I do agree with you on the fact that matchmaking is getting really crappy. I think you may be on to something.

Halo 2 was like that before Halo 3 came out. I think you were just looking at it through rose-tinted spectacles.

H3 is better. It's a shame they didn't keep the stuff that was actually good in halo 2, I will agree to that - just like it was a shame they didn't keep the stuff that was good in halo 1 before it. But overall it's better already and it will only improve.

The weapon balance alone is reason enough for me to play H3 over H2.

This.

I don't know how one would think Halo 3's MP is "dismal" compared to this

I would't want to play H2 now if H3 had Team snipers and swat, but H3 doesn't have them so I'm stuck playing them on H2,

You said H3 only had 66,000 players online...in the middle of a monday...nice.....

halo 2 is still a good game it's just halo 3 is newer people will still play it because not everyone can buy halo 3 right when it comes out but you just gotta remember this all happened to halo 1 when halo 2 came out and halo 1 still has some players (not alot ,but still).

" betraying is gone haywire since I'm getting booted from loads of games for 1 betrayal, somtimes even when I didnt betray!"

My freind Ladd Betrayeed me and It gave me the Option to Boot someone else... I think the system is messed up and The other day I killed 2 ppl on my team... How i do not know Considering the match Jsut started and I hadnt fired a single shot nor thrown a nade.

"push us on to the money making scam that is halo3?? that has only 3 maps for BTB and u have to pay $10 to download more. (and only 2 are playable 1 is a forge map which means u can probably never play on it just edit it for no reason)"

I dont have a 360 or h3 yet but are you seriouse 10$, Do you think they will have them free after a while, like on H2? I like playing H2 but im tired of playing BTB on maps liek Midship/tower and warlock. All my 8v8 games are on like Relic/headlong or waterworks -_-

"Or it's still a key because when it touches people, it unlocks their death."
"Goddamn man, I would just love to live in your world for like ten minutes."

the last two matches i played had all one red bar laggs. Plus i was avoiding a sniper when i froze right in the middle of the map...bam! my blood splurts my head. I agree that update did something weird to the game. I mean usually i do pretty good in H2 matches. but that last match my deaths doubled my kills. I used to love this game but if this keeps up, it'll just end up like a total lagg fest and it will fall apart. but that's just me.

I disagree with that. Check my stats, I haven't played Halo 3 yet, and I'm noticing these problems, as well. It's gotten a lot worse on the lag in games, and that's if you're lucky enough to find a game. I waited about thirty to forty-five minutes a couple of days ago, and finally just gave up. It's just getting horrible.

i havent played h3 yet either only have an original xbox but as a daily player of h2 on xbox live, i must admit that these guys ARE right about it being more laggy as of late....however they are definately exaggerating the problem or just have a -blam!- connection themselves. i think the ban hammer coming back had something to do with it because after that i noticed more and more crappy-hosts even in small 3v3 games in team snipers.....maybe SO many people have been host banned that its giving host to people with connections not really suitable for holding games.

again i will mention the problem is exaggerated by the above posters....maybe 1 in 10 games gives u a seriously crappy host.

however he^ is right about finding matches....if u are above a 35 in some playlists u can sit for nearly an hour before finding a match if its not during peak hours(ie. once the kids get home from school).

Yes, realy though I was more talking specifically about the things the OP referred to:-

BTB has been that way for ages, there was no playlist update for ages, I was having the matchmaking restarting problem for a long time before halo 3 came along and the betrayal thing has also been around for a long time too.

Not finding matches is an unavoidable effect of having a lot less players online. I would also think the lag would be in part due to this - there are now a lot less good hosts in matchmaking, and it is conceiveable that those who take their gaming seriously and would pay for decent internet connections would also be among the first adopters of the newer console and game. I can't tell you that for certain, obviously, but your problems are at least in part to do with a shrunken player base.
