Specs are above, tell me what to replace or upgrade to help my games load faster.

Everything. No, I'm not kidding. Go out and buy a new computer, preferably something with lots of upgrade slots. Your proc, card, RAM, HD, PSU, mobo...ugh. By next year, you won't be able to run anything new on that system.

Also, if you're looking for the best card out for right now at the best competitor deal for a mid-range price, the 8800GT is definitely suggested. AMD's new line of cards that are coming out are supposed to be competitors to the old GTS, but the fact of the matter is that the 8800GT still out-performs them all. At least AMD is finally bringing competition back to the table again.

But yeah, new computer. It's long overdue.

lol I mentioned before, I'm not going to try and do any hardcore PC gaming, I'm pretty much done. I just want to make small adjustments for the occasional game from time to time.

My mobo is very upgradeable, I got 2 PCI-E x16 slots, 1 PCI-E x1, and 3 PCI. I'm not concerned about the PSU yet, since I don't care much for the Geforce 8 series. As of now it's impossible for me to buy anything outside of RAM or CPU's seeing as I have no job (don't know if I stated that earlier) and even when I have one, money will still be short (we can't all be fortunate). My next upgrade after the RAM will probably be a new CPU, I'm thinking an E6600.

I've seen the benchmarks and the performance differences between the Radeon 3870 and the 8800GT are slim. I want to get the 3870 though because my mobo supports Crossfire. I could care less about ~5 fps.

Aren't you a pessimist? Get a job and then talk about whether or not you have pocket change or not, because trying to upgrade hardware without a disposable income shouldn't even be a thought going through your mind. As far as everything else goes, I would definitely say to focus on replacing that proc first, then a video card or some more RAM, but if you're thinking about playing Crysis on anything past extremely low, you'll need to rework a lot of money into your machine. Crysis isn't casual; it's a hog.

Also, the differences between the 3870 and the 8800GT aren't slim. In some cases, yes, but when it's a matter of using different video settings on different games, it can be any where from a 30 to 50 FPS difference. You can read more about the new line of AMD cards here.

It may be easy to get a job where you live, but here in Southern California, we are slowly being displaced by the Hispanics in jobs. I still apply though.

I just wanted to get better load times in H2V, but I already figured that out. Didn't I mention I was done with PC gaming?

I live in South Florida. Please don't talk to me about Hispanics. Also, getting a job is a matter of applying yourself, not one opening up for you. I got a job because I wanted to get a job, not because one popped up out of the blue.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

There are plenty of jobs, maybe not one that you think is good enough for you, but still you get paid.

So you just applied for one and got it? I don't understand.

I didn't stop applying until I got one. You put in an application regardless if they're hiring or not. You set up your delivery, you express if a position ever opens you can contribute exceedingly well to the job position, and you move on until you line up interviews and can then pick and choose from a job.

Also, scholarships.com for tuition. There should be a counselor on your campus that can help you out as well.

Allright thanks for all the helpful advice. I got the money for the RAM, so I'm going to order that. And I will definitely not stop applying for jobs.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Crossfire scales pretty well, better than SLI currently. Go for a new video card and don't bother upgrading your CPU until you can afford quad core. If you don't have 2 gb of ram do that first too. The 3800 cards are not quite as fast as the nVidia 8800gt, but they consume a hell of a lot less power, are cheaper, you can actually find them, and you can do weird pairings later on, like mix a 3870 with a cheaper 3850...

I didn't think quad-core would be useful right now, but I can certainly wait and see.

That 3870+3850 seems pretty cool.

I'm looking at getting the E4500 soon, because it's way better than my P4. What do you guys think, should I go for it?
