Ok iv just installed a new nvidia driver for my geforce 4 ti 4200, iv upgraded the driver to the one released back in july since that is the only driver which seems to not cause lagging in games... but now i start up halo and only a black screen apears but with sound only. The game worked with the nvidia driver from april....
What should i do? I don want to retern to a previos driver because the driver i just installed fixed the same problem with a game i just bought....

I don't think it's the driver because I'm using thier latest one and have no problems with it. You might want to try looking at something else, but if that doesn't turn anything up, I would have no hesitation in reverting back to the older driver if you play Halo a lot.

Just an after thought... Have you updated your DirectX to the latest version aswell? (9.0 C)

Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Well to play a game i just recently bought i need to update my driver to a driver from july-present, and earlier drivers wont work with the game....
I do have dx9c, but if it isnt the drivers, then what could it be? it worked out before i updated my drivers....

Heyyo,

Nope, for new games dude? you could use the drivers that even shipped with that card. All drivers won't stop you from playing a game unless it has compatibility problems. Remember, the GF4 TI series are no longer in production, so now Nvidia gears its drivers n' everything towards the new 6600 - 6800 series. I suggest reverting way back, like 1st to 2nd forceware drivers, cause those worked plenty good on my old videocard when I used to own a GeForce. For you? I suggest maybe going as far back as the last Detonator drivers released. Why? they were geared towards your videocard, but since they are pre-HaloPC, they might have probs running the game, so dude, it's all up to you.

Used to have a problem like that and realized that my refresh rate was being force to a setting that my monitor didn't support.
