this just happened last night, around 12:08 new years day.
me and my friend went outside to his backyard, lighting off fireworks and stuff to celebrate the new year, and after we lit some, we moved over to my friends front yard and talked for a few minutes. well, everybody but me and my friend went inside (it was about 8 degrees outside) and we noticed some fireworks going off. they stopped after a few minutes. well, it was dark out, but then i turn to go inside, my friend tells me he just saw a bright red flash. i turned around, thinking he was joking, and suddenly the whole entire sky lights up really brightly, and glowing green for about half a second. we started getting freaked out, and the lots of other flashes start. some red, some blue, some green. every single one ofthem would light up the whole sky. we then ran inside, and told everyone. they told us that they were just fireworks, but can a firework light up the whole entire sky? there also was no bang from a firework, just a flash, then nothing.
