at least your dog's ghost didn't visit you growling...
I was 9 at the time, every boy that age should have a dog. My dog Woof ( yes, I was 7 when I named him, Ok?!) Was returned to the shelter because he'd sleep with us (being me in my room and my mom in another) but, he was not potty trained. Once my mom had gotten angry at the dog for running in between rooms all night, figuring out what room to *blam* in. With great hardship we had been able to return poor Woof to the shelter.
Four years later, no dog runs in the house or my heart.
I was getting ready to sleep after playing my <PORTABLE NINTENDO PRODUCT NAME HERE>. That night around 3 am, I wake up to a distinct noise, one I had memorized years before. *Click Click Click Click* The sound of a dog's nails hitting a solid object, and fast approaching at that. The sound had stopped in-front of my door. Slightly amused that there's a possibility of a dog in my house I role over.
Rubbing my eyes to see the dog, my ears pick up on another noise, once forgotten. *Tch Tch* "It" was scratching at my door as a low menacing growl began to travel from beyond the door. The door cracked open a foot, the growling got louder. "It" began to run. Seconds later, my bed had gained weight near my feet, four dimples the size of dog paws glistened on my moon light covers. The deep growling was now facing me. I watched as the dimples made a slow, stalker like approach to my petrified body.
My heart was racing, my legs were in extreme pain, as-if someone had stuck kitchen knives through my legs. The dimples were on my pained legs, the growling practically part of my ear. My memories return, I manage to blurt out "Woof". The dimples ever present. The pain and growling stop, then start again seconds later. "Woof, I love you." I yelp as my arms get a scratching sensation, slowly going red.
My body had started to go warm, the pain sufficed, the growling with it. The dimples were still there, "Woof, go lay down." The dimples now moved from on my blanket covered body to the corner of my bed. I watched with a smile, as the dimples made a circular motion, then a big lump replaced them shortly after. With that, it vanished.
I never dealt with Woof again. I now have two dogs, Coco and Peanut, they are potty trained and very much loved. As for Woof, he's in a good place, my heart and, the one personal ghost story that will ALWAYS be able to make me *blam* myself...
Good thing I have a laptop and wireless :D
