This is an experience where I honestly thought I was gonna die...
A few years back, my cousin's family and mine decided to go canoeing one day. We got on the river, and started the 2 mile trip. We were laughing, having fun, unaware of the building chaos. After a few minutes it began raining lightly. We thought a little rain was good, cooled us down. A few minutes later it began a moderate rain, then moments later, a complete downpour. Sheets of rain flooding the canoes.
Guess what happens next? Hail a little smaller then blueberries start coming down, a lot of hail. Soon the thunder and lighting comes. Terribly loud and close. My dad was scrambling to get water out of the canoe, using his hat. Eventually we pulled to the side of the river and I tranferred to my mom's canoe. Keep in mind I was only like 7-8 years old.
Suddenly lightning strikes almost right next to us, like on the side of the river. We finally get to our pickup point, and we almost miss it!. Our aunt had to jump out and pull our canoe over. My dad was about a minute behind us, and he was on the far side of the river so he just about missed it too. The guy that picked us up was so glad to see us, he was almost in tears. He thought we were dead, and for a while we were as well.
I never wanted to see a canoe again.
