I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

I know that you cannot.

oh yee of little computer intelligence. Okay, so they might not put HALO 1 as an xbox live arcade since it has more detail than an arcade game might. What you CAN do is go to xbc.com(xbox connect). You might not have heard of it, but this website lets you play hALO 1 with other people around the world.

But it is kinda complicated. First you have to download the software needed from the website for it to work. Then you have to create a username so you are able to sign in. After doing so, you are able to choose from a list of xbox games which consists of system linking(preferrably halo 1) and make sure you go to system link on your xbox.

While in system link and the ethernet cable connected to your router, you are convincing your xbox you are system linked to another xbox. Pick a game you would like to join. If you have played HALO PC, it is kinda like that but more complicated. After finding a game on the compter and entering it, press start system link on your controller. In a few seconds your xbox will say they found a game, and you will be playing with people that you don't even know.

Connection might be a bit off, so be careful when using this software. It only costs 12 dollars to download and you are playing xbox live with HALO 1.

P.S. headsets are not able to be used since HALO 1 came out before xbox live,Enjoy.

Oh yee of little XBL knowledge... Halo: CE will soon be re-released for download on Xbox Live. (Not as an arcade game, as an Xbox Classic, along with other original Xbox games)
I believe the OP was asking if multiplayer would work over XBL for the downloadable Halo: CE.

Multiplayer is not live enabled. This has been confirmed by M$ Xbox executives in IGNs last Three Red Lights podcast. It will play the exact same as putting the original disc in your 360, so any backwards compatibility bugs will be present. The code hasn't been opened up and worked on.

Halo's a hell of a drug.

sadly no. I would love to see some Halo:CE stats on bungie. I bet they could sell millions of this game if they opened up live and stats.

I remember when I first heard the news, the first thing I did was make a post about it and wonder if it was online-capable. I was too excited to check the facts, and slowly realized that it's just Halo 1... instead of on a disc, it's downloadable =[

Just go to xbox.com, find the section about downloadable Xbox games, and it'll say it only supports split-screen and system-link =[ Basically, not one line of code is being touched. So that means no achievements, not XBL, and you're probably going to be offline while you play the game too.

Either way, I'm still going to play the Xbox copy I have, continue to play it on XBC, and play Halo 1 PC as well =]

You know it really bites that they will not do this. I think you are right. If they were to add XBL,achievements and fix some code, DEFINATELY worth downloading. I too still have my H:CE (it has the game of the year thing on it.) and have NO intent to download it to my xbox 360 that will probably get the RROD and then I have to download again, and again ,again..cheaper to go to gamestop and even through multiple 360's you'll still have the game. Why are they doing this Download thing in the first place? Are ALL copies of H:CE gone? instead of reissueing it they just save a buttload of $ on discs and manuals?Notice they have a manual on the website.

Also an Idea(great one if you ask me)is to make a Mappack like they did for H2, BUT... its ALL maps of the Halo series that can be played on H3.some will need a make over...but if they made this an actual release it would be justified and worth it.EVERYONE WOULD BUY IT BUNGIE!

d[(••)]T Keepin it clean...

Live an ethical life and come face-to-face with the fundamentally flawed nature of human beings and look on the gap between high ideal and low achievement with wry amusement, only then will you have fun playing Halo 3, even against Generals who hump your corpse and beat you with a 30 point deficit.

I wish, I loved Halo 1, imo the best halo yet.

It doesn't have it because it would require Bungie (or a 3rd party) to go back in and open up the code and go to work. Opening up game code is risky and can create many more glitches and requires testing afterwards etc. I'd rather Bungie go off and work on new IPs rather than work on Halo 1 and M$ don't want to pay out to a 3rd company to work on one feature. Added to that, M$ want would want the Halo franchise moving forward at the moment with Halo 3. In their eyes, it's be too early to go back to Halo CE. Halo 3 has only been out for two months, Halo CE with online functionality is a pot of gold for M$ in the future, not right now.

Personally though I want it now.

That rain-walk-candace-bj-creepy mexican-chocolate liquor thing was one of the best nights ever in world history.

In all reality the best way to(if Micro$oft wanted to) would be to re-write the PC version of Halo 1(hell even if they didn't want to do campaign they could rewrite Halo:Custom Edition[160 MB]) its not impossible but its easily doable by MGS.

"Say HI To Your MOM For Me"

It would be great to see halo 1 on multiplayer on xbox live... I still think that its one the best games ever... I would be the first person to purchase this.

Yes, we know what XBC is and we've been using it for a very long time.
