I have noticed that the Halo 3 Forum has become nothing but a haven for spam, repeated complaints that have no factual foundation, and "can I has Recon" threads, since the release of Halo 3, and it has shown no signs of improvement. Almost half of the forum's front page is full of repeat topics at any given time. We must face the facts; the Halo 3 Forum's time should be near. No longer is it a safe place for people to discuss Halo 3 intelligently (well, it never really was). Halo is what people think Bungie is now. The Halo 3 Forum should be put out of its misery and deleted so it can suffer a quick and painless death; not suffocated by the spam, baseless complaints, and "can I has Recon" threads that have made the Halo 3 Forum a place too derelict to post in.

Do you see my point? Just because you think it's a bad forum, doesn't mean everyone does. I only post in the Underground on occasion, but I vote no on getting rid of it.

What? You don't like a forum where 90% of the threads are locked because no one has any idea what the hell "general Bungie chat and activities" means?

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

I agree with Ninja's point -- if being a "haven for spam and off-topic posts" is a reason to delete a forum, then by all rights the Halo 3 Forum should be the first to go. More than half of the H3 Forum's first page would be locked as well, except that new topics are created too quickly to do so.

Besides, what's the point of deleting the forum? Interesting things are discussed there often enough that it's certainly worthwhile to have it around. The ninjas keep a good eye on it and, especially now that Marathon 2 is on XBLA, it makes perfect sense to have a place to discuss non-Halo Bungie games.

Dianna Agron is the epitome of perfection.

Quinntology.

It may be a haven for spam but Bungie has games other than Halo...

Plus, there's one of these threads every 2 weeks or so. The Underground is not getting deleted, that is that.

I'm sure if you knew what a Heron Guard or a Trow was, then you wouldn't be making a thread about deleting a forum for some great games.

Ah... so it is you again. Which forum was supposed to be next, was it the flood? Wait, no, I think it was the Maw.

I suppose that, to be fair, I should consider the option that you're actually a completely seperate person, with ideas ranging from very similar to the exact same.

Edit: I just wanted to point out, this is the same guy who proposed the "No Ban Day" a week ago or so.

Actually, no, it shouldn't. However, it should start being used for its proper purpose. A bunch of threads started in the septagon recently should really have been in the underground. (quick example)

That's a good point. I've noticed that happening not only here, but in the flood as well.

I say we sink the forum, along with that stupid Pimps at Sea game in there.

...

The Underground serves it's purpose. I just think it's funny how people still miss "Halo 3 Forum". You'd swear they were just posting there to intentionally get us all mad at that forum.

I'm beginning to wonder, is this the same person, or do people like having a vendetta against forums?

You know, K, you're not the only one to notice. Every once in awhile, a user on an alternate account with a name strikingly similar to this user's creates a thread that bears striking similarity to this one in writing style and outrageousness. These mysterious alternate-accounts will make threads of varying extremity that are just-baaaaaarely serious enough to not be locked right away. These threads almost are almost always about proposed new rules or procedures for Bungie.net.

These ideas are usually posted in the Septagon, where the threads usually receive dozens or hundreds of replies before a moderator wisely steps in and locks the discussion. I guess you could look at it as some kind of subtle "extreme" trolling. And yes, these threads have roped me in many times and I've given a serious response (sometimes a long one) before realizing who the OP was and what kind of thread it was. And despite how funny some of the ideas are, I find that to be pretty annoying.

These threads would be better suited in a private group or something where people could know that they weren't serious and could laugh at them all they want. Of course, the original poster or posters wouldn't get their satisfaction if people knew that it was a joke to start with.

For your amusement, digestion, and future consideration when you encounter users and threads like this one, I've compiled a list of some (but certainly not all) of these types of trolling threads that I've been able to find in 10 minutes or so using my memory and the rusty old search feature.

(Note -- many of these user accounts have been banned. Unless you're a moderator with a "reveal" function, you'll have to either use the search feature or gather the context from the various responses)

This is outrageous and absurd, just like many of the other "remove this" or "enforce this" threads out there by other users. Follow Foman's examples. There is a possibility that these threads and users are linked.

No longer does anyone care about "old school" Bungie games and history, Halo is what Bungie is now.

My apologies for being rude here but, says who? You are not one to say who cares and who does not care about what. You are simply a drone that wants to get rid of whatever it doesn't like, like the rest of society these days. If you don't like it, guess what, you don't have to go to it. But some members, myself included, enjoy a small stroll in the underground once in a while.

Pretty much what Ninja said......except more.....confrontational.
