i thought it was a forunner planet......cuz in the dvd, forunners are classified as "world builders", so i guess that would make sense....any other ideas?

I read the Halo: Ghosts of Onyx book. I think the planet is Onyx, where the other Spartans are trapped. Maybe I just want to think this because the storyline would be perfectly set up for a Halo 4. Master Chief rolls in and saves the other Spartans after finishing the fight with the Covenant in Halo 3.

The theories are out there. By 'out there' i am of course referring to the Halo3 forum.

It isn't Onyx... Onyx was Destroyed at the end of the book.... But maybe the sentinels reformed and rebuilt... and Halo 3 is quoted as "Last in this story arc"
Which is quite the cryptic answer.... only time will tell.

I'd say a forerunner planet.

For those of you who may be thinking wtf since the spartans arent dead but onyx is destroyed, they;re inside the dyson sphere, so they're not actually on/in Onyx anymore. I think it might be a forerunner planet, and also imo, i think it's that middle planet from the ark. the rest of the ark got destroyed by the exploding halo, but for w/e reason, the planet in the center survived.

Whats worse then walking into a room full of enemies on FFA? Walking into a room full of enemies in BTB with their flag in your hand...

A Dyson sphere isn't a planet. A Dyson sphere is a sphere usually considered to encompass a solar system. What it basically is is a giant super bubble that u build around a star to totally harness it's energy.By around a star i mean like earth distance from the sun on an artificial environment. These spheres have been shown in various sci-fi show's films and theory's including star trek to name one. Just clearing things up a bit.

The Sentinels, sent by spark at the end of "the covenant", went somewhere important, or Bungie wouldn't have used the sequence. I think they went to the planet (presumably onyx) to help rebuild it. However, Onyx might have been rebuilt during the period between H1 and H3 and the sentinels were sent there for something completely different.

Spartankilljoy, the problem with the dyson spheres theory is that they appear to be a couple of meters across if seen from the exterior. The inside is huge. therefore, the "thing" you see at the end of legendary cant possibly be a dyson sphere. If you have read the book, "Ghosts of onyx" The dyson sphere is inside Onyx and the sentinels were probably sent to protect it.

Maybe chief will wake up after cortana gets a distress call from something inside the dyson sphere... (maybe a spartan)?

Just a guess, but I think it may have something to do with the Marathon universe.
