(I KNOW OF XBC, I played on it religiously before Halo2, and after Halo2. Please, read on....)

Seriously, WTF.

Bungie, you KNOW people love Halo: CE.

You KNOW MLG was started from Halo: CE

You KNOW many, many, many gamers have asked you to bring back Halo: CE for online play.

So what do you do? Give us Halo: CE on xbox live arcade WITHOUT online capability?

WHY? WHAT IS THE POINT??? Who the hell is going to play Halo: CE by themselves when you can simply own the disk for a measly $10???

This is a straight up slap in the face to Halo: CE fans. Gosh Damnit.

Link showing a vast majority % of people who would NOT buy Halo: CE if it did NOT have Online multiplayer

It costs them almost no time or money to do it, and you know some people are going to be stupid enough to buy it. Some people may just want to be able to run the game off of their 360. It might not be too profitable, but it's certainly not much of a financial risk for them either.

  • 11.29.2007 11:11 PM PDT

Sorry mate, but there IS no 'vast majority'.

Is it any surprise that, within those few who frequent the Halo 1 forum of the developer's website, most people would go for it?

Show me the same results on xbox.com and we'll talk.

By the way, to put that in perspective, I'm not bagging on the idea. I personally would buy it without a nano-second's consideration and play it too.

But to go back and rewrite a 5-year old game which has had two popular sequels which are still played, test it, and roll it out over xbox live when many xbox owners owned the original copy anyway is just not a sound business venture to MS, I believe.

  • 11.30.2007 4:57 AM PDT

I still have my disc. I've accepted that online play is something we'll live without. Unless Bungie decides to let a third party rewrite the whole thing or something.

  • 11.30.2007 8:13 AM PDT

Halo: CE > > Halo 3 > Halo: Reach = Halo 2

Microsoft owns Halo 1, not BUNGIE.

And MANY people would gladly repay to play Halo 1 MP online. And would not SP Coop be amazing to play on line? Best SP coop i've every played. Too bad it was only splitscreen.

Hey, there are these things, they're called tags. Use these tags to place an emphasis on certain words INSTEAD of OBNOXIOUSLY capitalizing a certain word or phrase. You know how to use tags because you obviously know how to set links. Please use them.

Secondly, there are perfectly good reasons why there is no online multiplayer. There are plenty of people who played Halo 3 and never even touched the original. Yeah, they could go to a store or eBay and buy Combat Evolved for like five bucks, but making it a download over Xbox Live is far more convenient.

Thirdly, you mistake it for an Arcade title. Halo will be released as a downloadable Xbox Original, which is something different. That's like calling Tomb Raider: Anniversary an Xbox Live Arcade game just because it's a game you can download online, when it's different from that. Plus, "arcade" is not a fitting word of Halo, a full-fledged retail game.

Only the dead have seen the end of war....unless they respawn.

I'd love to have it online too, but think realistically: They're working their rear ends off on the H3 maps and updates; Halo CE is kind of a gravestone with a candle on top of it; more people want to play H3 online than the old fogy. I'm sorry, and I agree with your desire, but I have a feeling that it's not going to happen.

People's words can only effect you if you let them do so.

The point... is letting newbies who just finished Halo 3 relieve the older games?

edit: But yeah, Online would've been nice, I'd probably have bought it...

I would buy Halo CE with online for up to $100 and I'm being serious. It is the best Halo game and if they could spend the time and effort to recode the game for online capability then I would shell out the cash in a heartbeat. The graphics don't need to be improved and the campaign doesn't even need to be put in either. I would pay $100 for just Halo CE Multiplayer enabled game. That's how much I love Halo CE.
Halo CE > all other games

When faced with insurmountable odds fight to live, because giving up is for the weak.

I say we all head to the halo 3 forums(cuz that seems to be the only one bungie actually checks) and just keep posting over and over again "Halo CE Online". maybe after we flood the halo 3 boards they will relize how many people want halo ce online.

  • 12.02.2007 4:43 PM PDT

Huzzah!

It couldn't be that hard to release it with online capability because it was originally supposed to be Live compatible, but Xbox Live wasn't up when they released the game, so they pulled the feature.

Well, if it's just the people in this forum doing that, it won't show them that too many want it online. There aren't many of us here. They might just ban us for that as well.

I would disagree with that; first, I would like a source. Secondly, just Halo was originally meant to have online multiplayer doesn't mean anything; the fact of the matter is that the netcode was not meant to be played with anything but on a local area network.

to correct you here, bungie owns Halo 1,2 and 3 and Oni and what other games they made.

Microsoft published it for them, yes they own bungie (not anymore, they stepped aside after h3)

No - he was right. MS do actually own the IP for halo. It was part of the splitting-up deal.
