That's a valid point. Last time I checked there where thousands(!) of players online (HaloPC and CustomEdition). Also you can do a couple of things that are not possible via xbox, one of them being able to fully custom map your xbox 360 pad buttons. And xlink certainly is another wellknown option.

Master Kim you think you know everything. How can we contact Microsoft I mean seriously? There are no forums I've already checked, if I call I get some random Indian dude who calls himself "Bob." There really is no easy way to voice our opinions to Microsoft... thank you Master of all things... I'm questioning whether you even want H1 on Live because you just constantly speak down to everyone as if you are the -blam!-. You're not

There's no need to get all butt-hurt about it. Master Kim is just being realistic, something many of you more expectant fans could do with being.

Take me, I would love Halo 1 to come back with upgrades like online MP. But I know with almost 100% certainty it is not going to happen.

If you want to make suggestions about xbox games, then check out the forums at xbox.com. But don't go expecting a different result. These aren't suggestion boxes.

In the defense of the "expectant fans," Bungie probably has some influence in regards to the Halo IP. Bungie also is aware of consistent complaints in its forums. These forums probably have a better chance of reaching someone higher up at Bungie than the xbox.com forums have of reaching someone important at Microsoft. Comparatively, it's not entirely in vain. Ultimately, they're not going to re-release Halo unless they want to, and this forum is as good as any for fans to voice ones complaints.

(I KNOW OF XBC, I played on it religiously before Halo2, and after Halo2. Please, read on....)

Seriously, WTF.

Bungie, you KNOW people love Halo: CE.

You KNOW MLG was started from Halo: CE

You KNOW many, many, many gamers have asked you to bring back Halo: CE for online play.

So what do you do? Give us Halo: CE on xbox live arcade WITHOUT online capability?

WHY? WHAT IS THE POINT??? Who the hell is going to play Halo: CE by themselves when you can simply own the disk for a measly $10???

This is a straight up slap in the face to Halo: CE fans. Gosh Damnit.

Link showing a vast majority % of people who would NOT buy Halo: CE if it did NOT have Online multiplayer

Link showing a vast majority % of people who WOULD buy Halo: CE if it DID have online multiplayer

So that Bungie can laugh at brainless, blind imbeciles like you.

WE AREN'T GOING TO GET HALO: CE ON XBOX LIVE!
live with it. Don't make pointless threads complaining like a little girl about something you can't change.

I love Halo: CE. Most definitely more than you and probably more than most of the other people that go on this forum. I love the game enough to know that something so great shouldn't be changed when the possibility of ruining it is so high.

To be honest, after all this time, I've actually become happy that Halo: CE isn't going to be live enabled. If it was, It'd be a completely different game that simply wouldn't be fun. Especially if it was released as it is. The netcode simply isn't meant for anything other than LAN. You'd know this if you had some really laggy sessions of XBConnect. Even so, the experience wouldn't be the same. People will be exlpoiting glitches like crazy, etc. The game just isn't built for such gaming.

What made Halo: CE fun for us were those awesome LAN parties where you can hang out with your friends and do awesome stunts. Hey, you wanna have a Live-like environment? Why don't you open your own Xbox LAN cafe? People will flock to experience some Halo: CE goodness, and you might even make some money on the side. I got one such place near where I live, and going there is absolute bliss. Hundreds of times better than if the game were to be Live enabled.

So quit whining, get off your ass, and actually do something. Do whatever; open a site to start a petition to Microsoft, open up a cafe, get on with your life . Do something. Just don't spam the forums with pointless whinefests that piss everyone off.

Yes, because Bungie is just trying their absolute might to disappoint us, which they have, it's just that it's not their fault this time. I would enjoy online multiplayer over Xbox Live as well, but it isn't happening.

Someone mentioned Tomb Raider: Anniversary, isn't it possible, maybe even probable, that we'll see a Halo: Anniversary type release in the future? Perhaps not the near future, but in the future, for sure.

Yes, perhaps. I never say it's impossible, just that it's difficult and unlikely to happen (anytime soon).

Rigging Halo 1 to play multiplayer online would not be difficult for Bungie. They did it for Halo PC by telling the game that an internet server was a LAN connection. Or at least that's what I'm told. It made for really really really bad lag though. I still remember playing Halo PC online. lag. But still better than 2 or 3.

Thing is, it looks like Microsoft probably went over Bungie's head on this one. And after all, the Bungie guys are working on Halo 3 atm, so to expect them to involve themselves in Microsofts business is kind of stupid.

I don't think I've seen that kind of sniper aim without a mouse. Offhost XBC makes it even more impressive.

"its not the years, its the mileage"

"WE AREN'T GOING TO GET HALO: CE ON XBOX LIVE!

I disagree with this. Lets be honest, the gaming industry is here to make profit. Microsofts goal is profit. It wouldn't take too sharp of an analyst to realize Halo CE with live capability would make mad $$$, especially with some tweaks.

Picture this:

Halo CE with current gen graphics and xbox live functionality and online co-opt campaign play. Throw in a few extra multiplayer maps. Leave the campaign levels with master chief exactly the way it is, but add two levels where you play as sgt. Johnson fighting off the covenant and the flood as described in the chapters of the Halo novel "The Flood".

Would the whole game be re-written? Yes. But the game engine is already designed as well as all the game design/plot and developement. That project would make MAD money for Microsoft. In fact, I bet it would outsell Halo 3 for a fraction of the cost and time that went into Halo 3.

Microsoft/Bungie, feel free to use my idea :)

Who cares... everyone would just use the Assault rifle, I would use the pistol, I would be owning all the noobs, and the game would get boring after 10 minutes because of the lack of challenge. Think about that for a second.Oh and Prilolator, no one is going to buy Halo CE, no one is going to buy a game that takes skill

LOL.

Are you actually telling me that you are in a position to tell the richest corporation on the planet how to make money?

Sorry, but this MAD success that a re-written Halo 1 would enjoy is totally in your head.

Good grief, did I.Q.'s sharply plummet since yesterday or just yours?

I projected a scenario that would, in fact, make mad money for Microsoft. With a Masters in Business Management, a job in the industry since 1991, and as a qualifying member of Mensa; I am indeed in a position to make an accurate analysis of the market. More so than you, who in fact made such a blatantly uneducated statement as to suggest that you are merely trolling.

Would you like to try again?

You're right! You, me, and everybody along with their grandma has realized that already.

What great ideas, except that once again, everyone and their grandma has already thought of these things.

You may have a Masters in Business Management, and yes, you might have a good idea about how successful a remake of Halo may be (although I don't think I agree about that myself), but I doubt you are a game designer (not saying I am, you probably know more than me), and from what I know, re-writing the game and the netcode for all the things you proposed would be extremely difficult, if not impossible in some way or another, and take a large amount of time. If it could be done in the fraction of time and money and surpass the success of Halo 3, wouldn't Microsoft have done something about it by now? Have they? I think not.

I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but to reiterate, it's not your idea. What you say does make sense but has already been thought of by many for the most part, and I'm sure Microsoft and Bungie have already thought about it as well (I'm not sure about the success of sales, however). Is it going to happen though? Most likely not, and if it does, not for a while.

  • 12.17.2007 12:12 PM PDT

"its not the years, its the mileage"

Although my statement may have reiterated the obvious to you (and assuredly many others) its pretty clear that some folks just don't "get it".

In any case, I agree with your evaluation that we won't see a remake anytime soon. I think they'll wait until the next gen console.
