I decided to switch over to Halo PC for a while and noticed every game I joined people were accusing and being accused of aimbotting left and right. I even got banned from one server by a guy who seemed so sure I was haxing. Has anybody else noticed this? Has the botting issue really become this bad or is the whole community just experiencing a paranoid hysteria of inadequacy?

Halo CE forever!

I've accused people of haxing only few times, like two-three times or something (lol). That's how rarely I see cheaters.

I've noticed it. One time in CE i was playing on a server when a guy was looking across the map, somehow he just turned and shot my head and said " Lol! i owned you!" . It was really annoying.

Haha, yeah that can be. I think botters are the worst noobs.

The botters are really out of hand. There's at least one in the KNFr server much of the time an admin isn't present. And they flood the sniper servers. Some of them are selective, like 420 Blaster, who turn it on when they start getting their asses handed to them, but most of them just leave it on and use names like "Training" or "I PWN" or stupid crap like that.

I see a ton of accusations, but very few actual botters. I actually find it funny when I'm accused of botting because everyone crouch walks around me looking really stupid. In fact I think over 30% of my kills yesterday resulted in someone yelling BOT!

Yes the botting has become "that bad." I suggest anyone who thinks I am exaggerating to download sightjacker and spend some time watching people on your favorite servers. I have been playing Halo PC regularly since early 2004, and from the time the aimbotting began, it has literally exploded.

I caught a 28 year old woman aimbotting a few days ago and couldn't believe it. She admitted it and said she was "bored." ....a 28 year old woman!

Halo PC has gotten to the point where everyone assumes that you bot if you can get a kill, so all the scrubs MUST use a bot too. If you are on the opposite team as the suspected botter, it is pretty easy to tell if they are locking onto your teamates (b/c of the green arrows above heads).

BTW, you can dl sightjacker for PC here.

ive noticed this to
i dont hack but ive been accused of hacking on my own server when i create one
or sometimes when im in a normal server and some people just cant take getting killed

but i also have noticed a bunch of hackers on Halo CE and PC
i think this could be helped with some kind of hacking prevention system like
Valve has VAC
and BF2 has punk-buster
halo has nothing to speak of
that would ban hackers automatically

One day, i played on a server, he claimed that he had turned on his aim bot because it was so mad, next thing you see is every shot is a head shot, it was so annoying that day..

  • 12.03.2007 7:39 PM PDT

It's not nearly as big a problem as people make it to be. Yes, some noobs use aimbots to have an unfair advantage, but it seems like people just use that as an excuse when they get killed.

Yes, Extremely BAD. I quit Halo PC and went onto Custom Edition because 1)Botters flood the sniper servers which so happens to be my favorites : (
2) Most botters (This is just an assumption) are too lazy to download Custom Edition.
I try to find my way around botting nubs. I just quit the server and move onto a new one.

There are fewer botters on CE? I had heard other otherwise. If it is true, I may download CE again.

My opinion is that an aimbot puts a player somewhere on the skill spectrum between average player and pro. It's like a food chain and botters are definitely not at the top (or bottom? I forgot how food chains work). Sightjacker doesn't reveal everything. Check out the "bot catching" videos on YouTube and you'll see a debate on every single one. But I guess it's better than nothing...

Enjoy the challenge, even if it's fake.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

We had about 6 botters on our server in the last 2 months.

Sometimes I take a one month break, or I just forget that this is here... And I also remember someone trying to give me an aimbot through a PM here.. I refused.

This is true, but once you learn what to look for, you can catch the majority of cheaters. The tricky ones are the people who aim onto someone before botting them and who never snap onto targets they cannot see first. You watch people long enough, and almost all of them make a mistake eventually and do something revealing.

The people on Youtube have no idea what's going on.

It's just really a shame that BUNGIE never cared enough about cheating in their game to do anything...not even on their own servers! Shame on you Bungie. All these negative threads on this company were a long time coming. Now they reap what they sowed.

Does Bungie care about PC fanbase? NO.

Does Bungie care about cheating? NO.

Does H2V suck more than H2 for Xbox? Yes.

Is Bungie the most overrated studio of all time? Yes.

Aimbotters are very common in Halo PC, once you have played with really good players that really do "own", you'll be able to spot aimbotters a mile away!

If they want to be untalented and unskilled noobs, then fine, but its the fact that people know when there is a aimbotter in a game and they leave. This usually ends up emptying your favorite server, and it just plain ruins it for everyone.

The people I play with have a thing we do, when a aimbotter is in a server, we annouce it, and say we are leaving because we dont want to play with cheaters. This makes everyone else leave, and pretty soon mr or mrs aimbotter is left in a empty server, thus making him/her leave as well.

H1 and Halo Custom edition name: madkiller92
xfire:madkiller92

I've only seen 1 aimbot in 1 year of playing halo. It was on halo custom edition. He admited to it, and he ruined my sever because at that time I didn't know how to ban/kick. I know how to now.

I hear you, I hear you. I agree completely. However, Bungie won't do any anti-hack system for a four year old game, and not for Halo 2 Vista, that's for sure.

"Video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock and roll."-Shigeru Miyamoto

I really don't understand why people cheat in this game. There's no ranking system, so they gain nothing.

I think it's actually because there's no ranking system. They can't overcompensate for a small wang with a number, so they gotta do it with a bot.

:(
I used Training for a name quite a few amount of times in the KNFr server because I wanted to practice after not playing for a couple of weeks of school. Maybe it was me, but I don't bot. I've seen a few people that have botted there, so I'm gonna be sightjacking and presenting those videos to the KNFradmins because it's really annoying have some scrub ruin it, and for that matter, still loose while aimbotting. Hopefully then those servers would be better to play on, but we still have the nade spamming problem.

About the aimbotters of CE, if you think there's less aimbotters because it's a smaller community, you're wrong. The Face clan has at least 10 members that have been caught botting, and quite a few others aimbot also. It's mainly on the more popular servers that people bot on. Not to mention most people there are really mentally challenged, and accuse you of hacking with no proof and proceed to hack themselves, even on their own hosted servers. I'm getting close to the point of saying good bye to both Halo PC and CE.
