Yes. It sould be illegal. Most of it is as bad as a virus. Some of it is even worse. I have one on my other computer that redirects me to the same god damned site (-blam!-) no mater where I want to go. I don't even look at -blam!-, so I'm still trying to figure out where that piece of -blam!- came from... I, personally, don't know why it's not illegal.

It's legal because software users agree to the craziest Terms of Service Agreements ever, that spell out exactly what the spyware the user is installing and what it does. If you don't like spyware, use a program like Spybot S&D, and don't install freeware crap.

Thats what mine used to do, but now I got a program called Ad-Aware and its sort of like a virus scanner, but for spy-ware. i had to pay for the full version of it. it works on a lot of things but doesn't really catch exactly everything.

It's entirely legal. Everyone needs to learn to read the ToS. Not many of us have that time, though, so we always click accept.

As much as I disagree with it, it's legal.

In other news, I use Spybot Search & Destroy. I used to use Ad-Aware, but it didn't really get very many things. Spybot deleted every piece of Spyware. 8) And it's updated like every week.
