the rotation of the ring produces an artifitial gravity on the inside of the ring, witch is why there is nothing on the outside.

well, what he just said makes some sense. If the Forerunners who excelled at creating/building huge machinery and artificial snow, trees, etc. on Halo..basically any kind of imitation of the environment then couldn't they do the same for gravity?

they didn't?..what do you mean by creating the gravity?

as i said before either method is perfectly feasible. its already decided centrifugal force is the means of gravity (in halo 1 they say the ring is rotating just fast enough for one G); what i was asking is whether they [forrunners] used a wall or a force field to keep the atmoshpere from expanding over the sides of halo.

Have any of you read the book Ringworld? In that story, which is where I am convinced the Halo creators got the idea, the ring is spun to keep the air against the inside of the ring. On the edges, though, there are mountains made to prevent the air from flying off the sides.
