Well...Considering since Halo 1, thousands of people have always sat intently by their computers looking for Halo news, involving themselves in Halo related stuff and like myself probably made posting on these sites and looking for cool halo stuff like a hobby. My question to you all is, if Bungie were to make a new, 'non-halo' game - would this tear the community apart?

Some people, well probably several would be opposed to a new game that is not Halo, finding it difficult to set their asses in to a new groove of comfort and knowledge like we all have with Halo. Like look at the thousands upon thousands of fan created images and stories related to halo...Do you think Bungie could ever make a better game then what was the Halo series and establish a new 'community' and have a such an outpour of interest and involvement like they did with Halo?

And what will become of all these Halo fan sites, especially HBO? I'd hate to see that place die down, I visit it at least once a day because there is always interesting stuff going on there, but the inevitably is, it will die down along with all other fan created Halo/Bungie sites.

And lastly, if Bungie creates a new game, will those who accept it and take interest be hugely split in to those who are rather untaken by a new game, thus cutting the community into two groups and ultimately shrinking Bungie's fan base?

I would rather them create a new game, Halo has become stale after Halo 2. Bungie is very creative and original, I would hate to realize that they need Halo to keep strong as game producers.

Oh, and Bungie don't have the rights to Halo. Microsoft do, so they can't make another Halo game, which would probably be their decision anyway. And K Mart is spot on.

Yes they can make another Halo game but they choose not to. That's reason they went independent anyways, beyond the money issue they also want to do something new.

The End

‘The conscious is cancerous if allowed to linger’

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

Halo 3 still has a lot going with new maps, updates etc. If it happens it won't be for another few years.

I think that once you are a Bungie fan, you are always a Bungie fan. Look back at bungie's past, there have been some good games and some bad games but the community has survived.

So I think Jun's a master chef, because he takes off his helmet and your like whoa, I think he's a chef.

So to shorten this up, Jun is master chef.

Yeah. I can already see everything falling apart now. They need to announce a new project soon, but keep out the details. Maybe just release the code name and let us know it's in the Halo universe, and then release information periodically. If they do that, then we'll all get back into everything. Waiting for Halo 3 was loads of fun, and I want another round.

Chances are that people will break into factions, until eventually the Halo lovers will become like the Marathon lovers, which is to say they won't argue as fervently and will sort of assimilate into the new community, while still professing their love for games of lore.

If there's one thing you can always count on with Bungie with their announcements, it's that they'll leave out the details.

Personally, I think Bungie working on new games is a good thing. It'll give B.net a little more diversity instead of Halo, Halo, Halo 24/7.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

IMO, Bungie should make a non Halo related game now, and then make another game set in the Halo universe after that.

But hey, this community ain't dead. And I'll make sure it never dies. I'll rise an army of kids whom I teach to love Bungie.

As long as people are still playing the old games (which they are) the community will never die. It may be slow at times, but thats ok.
Bungie will continue to make games and more people will join B.net because of them.

I like bungie, but I'm here because of halo. I'll play their future projects with interest, but when halo is done with here so am I, most likely.

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

In the immortal words of Shishka...

I was here when there was nothing, and I will be hear when there is nothing...I will put the chairs upside down on the table, turn off the lights, and lock the Universe behind me when I leave..."

While it is true that Shishka left, the ideal still stands. I just hope I'm not alone to live up to the dogma...when the time comes.

I honestly think that Bungie can't really be as secretive about their next project if it isn't Halo-related, because they need all the interest that they can get, and so many people here are just here for Halo.

While I do agree that they need the support, I think it is for different reasons.

If they do make a non-Halo or a non-Halo-like-gameplay game, they'll need to appeal to the people to draw them into the new concept and try to get them to accept it.

If people are so ignorant to believe that Bungie's next game will undoubtedly be an FPS, feature the same kind of gameplay/controls, or a combination of the two, then I will feel sorry for Bungie Studios and Bungie.net as they get swamped with "They are retarded because they are giving up a perfect design mold." claims.

Bungie Studios pioneered the first-person shooter and multiplayer concepts, and I'd be taken aback if they didn't try to reimagine another type of genre to the same effect. My guess: squad-based/tactical shooters are next on the proverbial To Do... list.

If Bungie's next game is a Halo game, I'd be out of here in a heartbeat. It's fun to read some of the funny stuff that members post on here, but outside of Halo, there's really nothing else that this Community has to offer.

Well like its been previously said Bungie is original and ever since they pumped out Halo 2 it just didnt feel the same, they are great at making different kinda of games with comcepts people love. So the way i see it is when they do release a new game I'm sure that they'll have the real bungie fans following them without question, and I'm sure some Halo fans.

The Frozen Minority; Bungie's real underground. The oldest members, the deepest controversy, walking infamy.

Considering Marathon.Bungie.org was around before HBO, I would say the community will be fine. Bungie had a steady fanbase pre-1999. Most will stay for the new project. The only people I can see leaving are the people I don't really want around.
